Three weeks out is not that far. I am at 6 weeks and still taking the occasional pain pill. This is major and having anchors put into your bone will take a while to feel okay. I find ice really helps.

Be patient and stay on them. Insurance companies make money by not paying. I would get familiar with your state's laws about the time i which disability insurance companies must comply with your requests. Document every conversation and take the name of everyone you speak to. You should be assigned a case manager. Be sure to ask if any paperwork is missing and follow up yourself if your doctors are dragging things out. As a matter of fact, I would get all my medical records and either scan or fax any paperwork they might say is missing. Keep copies of all of your diagnostic tests as well. Document! Document! Document all conversations and correspondence. Most states have an office of consumer affairs that can help you to know the laws pertaining to how insurance companies can treat you. Good luck!

My shoulder kind of pops with certain exercises, 6 ½ yrs. after surgery. This is the vascular joint sac that still produces a little too much fluid and doesn´t matter. Main thing is that you strengthen both shoulders as much as you can, this is the only way to get rid of pain and get a good rest at night.

My husband is! They have sent him to a neurologist to see if there was nerve damage. He is an industrial painter and it is his dominant arm. I am very concerned. He had a nerve block for the surgery, we don't know if it was that or the surgery was bad.

I had rotator cuff surgery on 7/7/14. Supraspinedas muscle tear. Although I am making progress it feels slow. The recovery from imobilization is clearly the worst part for me not the surgery itself. I am over identifying with where the anchors were inserted and now what impairs progress is pain associated with knots under by scapula and post axillary region near the teres major and teres minor. At about 7 weeks I was told I could use a foam roller at home with the surgical arm at my side or at least not exceeding the extension utilized during rehab. As they graduate my angle of extension and tension applied to the muscles / joint, I am doing so at home. I have used a body back buddy which is similar to a theracne to perform trigger point releast prior to rolling on the foam roller and it is gradully breaking down the knots, adhesions, and scar tissue to help with the discomfort that is otherwise ALWAYS there. Now that ROM is comming back I see a great deal of atrophy in the deltoid, teres major, minor and bicep. My tricep has held on for the most part. All of the muscles feel weak but particulary post axillary. It is difficult to get past this part. Even when I sleep fair and get up with my body feeling reseted, these areas feel tird and weak like they just dont belong. I did not require relocation of the biceps tendon as my labrum was intact.
I would love a tip on how to build the post axillary region in particular. It is a challenge.

I had rotator cuff surgery on August 25, 2014 and I'm experiencing many of the problems everyone else is.
Am doing therapy 3x a week...stiffness, soreness, limited ROM. I have a question about sitting on the sofa...how should I support my arm, let it sit by my side and rest on the seat of the sofa or should I have a pillow under it for support? It feels comfortable each way but just wondering whether I should have it propped up on a pillow or not...thanks!

I had surgery on right rotator cuff and bicep tendon in Apr 2014 and again after re tear during PT in August 2014. 6 months after initial surgery and almost 3 months after second surgery, I cannot move my arm more than 4or 5 inches. Haven't worked in 6 months , lost my insurance and have no way to pay the $800/mo PT BILL. sorry, just venting.. 800 Percocet and 180 Ambien and I have yet to get more than 3 hours of continuous sleep. If I had it to do over, would not of had second surgery. Wouldn't be able to movr arm, but I would still have a job and insurance.

I had several full-thickness tears to my rotator cuff, a slap tear of the labrum and a shredded biceps tendon. The rotator cuff and labrum tears were repaired in January, but the biceps tendon was not repairable and was released(tendonotomy). I have pain every day, but much better than before surgery. The biceps tendonotomy has been my biggest issue to date. I have a painful lump just above my bicep and my range of motion and arm strength is still only about 60%. Very discouraging to say the least! My Doctor says give it at least a year! Time will tell.

I'm wondering how you are doing now. You said exactly what I would have said about my own experience with rotator cuff surgery. Especially about the PT. I had the surgery June 3, 2014. I have not been without pain for the past 5 months. I got the results today from another MRI that found an anchor had torn loose. My doctor was quick to say that "you (yes, me) tore my anchor loose." Now how did I do that all by myself. I remember one of the PT's working on my arm and she hurt me so bad. I'm almost certain that is when "I" tore the anchor loose. The doctor said I had to have surgery to remove the anchor. So here we go again. I don't think I have a choice.

I am a 74yr old who has a Full Thickness near musculotendinous juncion of the supraspinatus tendon with tendon retraction. there is a greater than 2.5cm tendon gap and atrophy in the muscle. I also have a partial tear od the infraspinatus tendon insertion. Very fearful due to my age of a successful surgery. I do not weant to go through all the pain associated with RCR surgery only to have it fail. Have any others experience anything like this at my age. thank You
