I feel your pain my doc told me the same thing (4-6weeks). I be on my one year anniversary next week from my surgery and I'm still in pain at times. I can't take the mess anymore because they either raise my heart rate or bother my stomach. I told my boss I'll be 100% months ago. Now I'm Hooke another MRI will find something so I wount seem crazy.

Follow-up...I am nearly 3 years post surgery for full thickness tear of the right supraspinatous tendon. I am permanently disabled according to all doctors I have seen (dozens!) My disability case is to be determined in April. Unfortunately I was hurt on the job and am in California. If you are KILLED on the job, even due to employer negligence, your maximum disability award (to your survivors) is a mere $250K!!!!. I am working to be proficient on the shooting range as...well...

It is good to see this post (and the others).... I bumped the front of my shoulder getting out of a car one day before my 4 wk anniversary from surgery and have had more pain (still not horrid, not taking Tylenol today, for instance) but like you SUPER worried that I reinjured it. I see my surgeon Thursday. The nurse was somewhat placating, but I'm still very worried. And my rehab had been going really well (I had a 1.9-2 cm full tear of the supraspinatus muscle, bone spur removed and my bicep reconnected (my horse threw me into a wall). Good times, Anyway, I'm glad there are others with similar concerns to compare notes with. I just started passive stretches that same day and the entire shoulder has 'awakened' seemingly....

My reply is very late, but she should NEVER have been lying in bed for 30 hrs after surgery. She might have had DVT/pulmonary embolism. My legs swelled up the third day after (and brought home support hose, but wasn't wearing them) and I had my husband take me directly to the local ER. They gave me a shot (can't remember the drug, but obviously a thinner) and came back the next day (legs were back to normal) for an ultrasound of my legs, which was normal. I'm a slim, athletic 57 yrs old (rotator surgery was caused by fall off my horse). I came directly home after the surgery as well (2 cm full tear of the rotator cuff/supraspinatous, bone spur and bicep tear). My surgeon was awesome. Your story makes me heartstick as it sounds like terrible aftercare. I had phone numbers and a member of the surgical team called me each day for several days after. I also had a pain pump to get me through the first few days, and my pain was very manageable. I don't normal advise lawsuits, but your mother's treatment sounds neglectful.

Hello, I just had my surgery on May 14, 2015 I feel ok other than very bad stiffness across my shoulders up my neck. Every once in a while I get these sharp pains in my neck from working on my computer at work and sleeping in the wrong position. My doctor says I'm healing well but I don't see me getting 100% better for another 4 to 5 months. Good luck!

Had rotator cuff surgery 3 yrs ago. Frozen shoulder immediately developed impeding correct rehab. Pain elevates when I do any physical type of exercise like painting, gardening, etc. Arthritis has set in the shoulder. My best relief is using a tens machine and taking Terry Naturally Cura-Med (cur cumin) capsules. my doctor never sent me to rehab. I was to do all exercises at home. I know this was a huge mistake. Please tell anyone who undergoes this surgery to make sure they go to a physical therapist and not rely on exercises at home. My family physician does prescribe pain meds and muscle relaxers due to the arthritis, but this is not the way you want this surgery to go.

I am 10 weeks post repair to rotator cuff. Only small tear following an accident and also had spur removed. Since then, I have only had a handful of reasonable days and the rest have been very painful requiring me to take tramadol to cope with it. My ROM is not where it should be despite me pushing into the pain when I exercise and I do this three times a day. Problem is I seem to be inflaming my shoulder when I exercise it making it even more painful. I can't believe it is taking this long, my surgeon does not seem concerned except for possibility of frozen shoulder. Can someone tell me if this pain eventually gets better and is it normal ten weeks after surgery. Pain is located bang in my rotator cuff where surgery performed. Getting so so down about it. Has anyone else experienced pain for months and then got better?

I came to the same conclusion that my physical therapy was inflaming my shoulder. It's now been four years since my operation and all is fine. Wait for at least a year before any of the procedures are done. How are bodies take at least that long to acclimate themselves.

I agree with everything- the surgeon doing my nerve block seemed to be having difficulty finding the right spot & was moving the needle round & round- I was awake, & watching my BP shoot up to 190 over 100 it was so painful- now over 6 mths since several procedures on my shoulder & rotator cuff I am suffering badly- left-handed & that`s the one that was operated on- medical staff make me feel that I shouldn`t be in pain still! -horrendous
