I had my surgery on 09-22-16 and it is the most painful surgery ever. I can't sleep it seems all i do is complain about the pain. The pain in my shoulder isn't that bad anymore i can tolerate it, but my neck, head, and shoulder blade it hurts real bad. I am, constantly massaging my self on th wall with a tennis ball, but it continues to hurt. Is this normal? What did you do?

I had surgery in March,, felt really well for months. I did a little physical therapy on my own. In August, I started to go to physical therapy. Now I have pain in the neck, popping in the neck, and bad headaches daily. Muscle relaxers are a temporary fix as is migraine meds. The pain always comes back. My elbow has started to hurt as well. I don't feel like doing a damn thing between the pain and the meds making me sleepy. Stress isn't helping matters either.

Had rotor cuff surgery about 12 weeks ago. I'm moving better but have a ways to go especially movements behind my back and head. The main issue is extreme fatigue. I'm tired all the time. I can barely stand up at times. I'm hoping this will go away as I can sleep more deeply at night. The chronic pain is always there- not as bad as it was but I know it impacts my sleep. I toss and turn all night and feel totally wiped every day. I know it's impacting my performance. Any encouragement out there?

I'm 58 years old and have lifted weights for 50 years. I recently went to see an orthopedic surgeon due to some pain at the bottom range of heavy bench press attempts. I have zero pain in my daily life at work or doing chores, and I sleep well with no pain at all.

The doctor had me get an MRI, which surprisingly showed a full thickness tear and some arthritis. He naturally recommended rotator cuff surgery. I was hesitant since I always take the "If it aint broke, don't fix it" approach. Well, guess what? After reading 22 pages of horror stories from many suffering souls, my decision is quite simple. No way in hell am I going to self inflict myself with a procedure that will very possibly introduce constant pain, sleepless nights in a recliner and other surprise miseries to my life for months, years or permanently. I think I will just stick with a lighter, maintenance type workout and not do any activity that hurts.

The fact that many of these surgeries also re- tear at a greater rate when you are older is another reason that surgery is just not going to happen in my case. If I ever develop constant pain that can't be relieved, then I will consider surgical intervention. Thank you so much for these very honest posts. I hope most of you had the surgery due to uncontrolled pain and lack of ability to do your job, and not simply because a doctor advised it. I also pray that your pain and suffering goes away.

I'm also in pain every day and night. I had rotatorcuff surgery 7 months ago, I do concrete and masonry, I was put on light duty work 6 weeks after surgery (warehouse work) Then soon after that back out in the field helping with frame work "light duty" Workers Comp to Me seems to be why I'm having a hard time healing. when I tell them somethings wrong they tell Me I'm speculating and according to the're in house Doc I'm fine, I've never seen or even spoken to Him/Her? I am just about out of patients. I want to quit my job so I can heal but then I wont have coverage thru W/comp. I have one more appt with the doc I sure hope He has an answer or am I just gonna have to live with it.

Have your cervical spine checked for nerve impingement. Chiropracter can give relief or steer you elsewhere for proper help

I was repaired at HSS in 2/12 and Was told to start Pt 3 weeks after. I wondered how much time a tendon need to heal either to the bone or to the other part of the torn portion.
I just had another repair 2/17 and the bicep was also torn this time. The dr ( different one this time)told me to wait 6-8 weeks for the repairs to mend, and adhere to the humerus. I'm waiting and I'm wearing the sling from HHS with the 30• block religiously. I know the pain well and the doubt involved with such a repair. Don't rush the area and know you're going slow for you.

Just curious, I am about 4 weeks post op for a rotator cuff and slap tear of my right shoulder. My dominant arm. They also removed bone from the clavicle, acromion, and had to release the bicep tendon. I have been doing therapy, have been told I am doing well but when trying to raise my arm more than 90 degrees by the therapist it feels like it is glued and will not move, it hurts to do it. Is this normal? Has anyone who has had this surgery had this experience? not sure if this is normal...the surgeon said the shoulder was a mess, and that we have to go very slowly with p.t.
