I am 43 years old. I went to an endocrinologist that specializes in hormone replacement/bioidentidal with the complaint of insomnia for 1 year. We are waiting for results of my progesterone level, but he is convinced that because my cycle is a little late (not exactly28 days) that low progesterone is the reason for my insomnia. I've read all about the terrible side effects of progesteron replacement and insomnia is not a good enough reason for me to take it. He is also checking my thyroid and cortisol. What does anyone think about progesterone for insomnia?????
Hi there, I think that if you don't think that the risks are worth it then DON'T DO IT. I think that you can do something like sleeping pills instead, but if you don't feel comfortable with it, don't even bother. I don't think that it's worth being uncomfortable. Talk to your doctor about how common these side effects are though--often times they're very, very rare. Let me know, okay?
