Hello there! Two weeks ago I went through a sore throat, but the swollen lymph nodes behind my ears are still here. They have been here for 3 weeks now. I am a healthy 15 years old male, and I wonder what this may be?
Hi there! Most of the swollen lymph nodes caused by infection don’t go away immediately, In children and teenagers weeks may pass before swollen nodes go down. I don’t think you should be worried so much, but if they persist not to go away, it would be best to go to the clinic to have those scanned to check if something else is the matter.
Well,
When you have swollen lymph node this usually means that you have some sort of an infection in your body. Now you said that you had sore throat and that this condition has passed, but your lymph nodes is still present. You can try to apply warm towels, but don’t press them too much. Sometimes the lymph nodes get irritated as well and they stay swollen long time after the infection is cleared from the body. Have you had any problems with your ear maybe? Also if you are worried about this too much you can see a doctor and see if he can give you any medication to get rid of this problem.
All the best,
Nelie
