My friend was diagnosed with ptb minimal at the right upper lobe and undergone her 6 months medication..after medication, she was advised to to have her xray and compare it with her previous xray..the result was,no changes ptb minimal stable at the right upperlobe.may i know what could be the problem, why she was not cured? What will she do?
Hi Rhayemon,
The difficulty in using an x-ray is that PTB causes PERMANENT scarring. It can appear as the infection is still active. Usually additional tests would be performed to determine if the PTB is still active - sputum or biopsy.
Sometimes the medication does not work. I suggest she see her doctor again and ask them to tell her EXACTLY what is going on.
Good luck.
I got these readings - PTB left upper lobe radiologically stable. What is the meaning of this?
