hi out there!
I quit smoking about 9 months ago and didn't find out until I came across this thread that I am facing withdrawal symptoms from quitting smoking. I was told that I have GERD, and ASTHMA caused by it, however know I know that acid reflux ( which is almost healed on it's own ) and shortness of breath along with hacking up large goobers of phelgm are detox symptoms from quitting smoking.
Thankfully I haven't gained any weight and actually was over weight and lost a lot due to the acid reflux which required me to change my diet and lifestyle.
The reason why I am writing this is because I have constantly hacking up thick mucous and when it gets stuck in my throat I feel like I'm choking so I start to panick and then eventually I start hyperventelating. It's not a pretty sight - it's pure suffering. I have to watch what I eat and cannot eat anything starchy or have any dairy since it produces more mucous.
My natuoropath and family doctor are both telling me to drink tons of water, which I do, I drink about 2 litres a day + some tea with honey and ginger. But I just can't take it anymore, I'm in pure suffering and I am about to lose my mind, the SOB is so dreadful, I don't even leave my house since I am constantly clearing my throat and gasping at one point when it gets stuck.
Please help, I need some support from some fellow Ex Smokers going through something simular if not the same thing.
