I had surgery for Morton's Neuroma on March 19, 2018. When the stitches were removed on March 29th my foot was very bruised and swollen including the toe next to the big toe. April 12th I was given a shot and put on methylpresidone (spelling is wrong). That didn't change the pain I was having. I was then given a steroid cream and Vimovo, which has helped with the inflammation. Surgeon had mentioned that maybe my body was rejecting the internal stitches. I have been wearing a surgical boot to eliminate weight bearing. A MRI revealed a bone fracture of the third metatarsal. My biggest issue is the pain that is under the foot where the skin was cut. No matter what I am doing even if it is nothing the area hurts. My foot and leg is discolored (red tone) and swollen, but not as swollen as it was. Could it be that the surgeon will have to open up the wound and see what is going on with the stitches?

Hi I have had the same issue. I had my surgery on 25 May 2018 and the ball of my foit is still sore and quite stiff. I have this strange sensation when I touch it to massage it and it can feel painful.

My surgery 25 yrs ago was very successful. All in my recovery was longer about 5 months butI did not have good post opening info or care and struggled on my own. I use Hapad longitudinal metatarsal arch supports in sturdy shoes. My left foot is going for surgery soon. The arch support is very important preventing and afterwards.

Hi. I took me about 5 months to what I would call normal walking. Over several years numbness went away and foot went back to normal. I have worn solid shoes and metatarcil arch support. I always baby that foot. :)

Thanks for the encouraging post. It has been four weeks since my foot surgery, I had Hammer toe on the middle toe, I had two Neuroma's, one between the 4& 5th toe and one between the 3rd and 4th toe. I am still having pain in my foot, I feel like my toes stiffen and sting so bad on top of my foot. I have just started trying to go from my boot to a slide on tennis shoe. I have only gone out a couple of times with just my tennis shoe and I can't stay out very long because I start to feel like the ball of my foot is bruised and hurts to walk on it. Hopefully I am expecting too much too soon because I am not Nerve Pain free. After reading earlier post I felt very discouraged so thank you for the encouraging post.
