Unfortunately if your doctor said that there is almost nothing he can do than he is probably right. My sister has the similar problem. Last year styes were subject number one in our house. The bad thing is that there is absolutely nothing you can do except keep your eyes clean and avoid touching them more than it is necessary.
My sister was trying even to put tea bags on her eyes. She said that this helped a little bit but not more than few hours. And sometimes when she even had more than two styes so if you are dealing only with one you are lucky. And usually they appear when your immune system gets weak so try to work on that. Good luck.
