I am 36 years old and I have had these red blotches forever !! I am going to try the acupuncture and the allergy tablet that were stated in the other posts . After reading all these posts it got me thinking do we all have the same blood type ? I am o negative . I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but makes me wonder why this happens to some people and not others .

ohmygod i'm so glad i'm not the only one wh has this.. so i'm 16 and i've been getting these weird blotches since i turned 11/12.. i get them when i'm nervous, excited about something and ESPECIALLY when i take hot showers (not when i take medium-cold ones tho). i had to hold a presentation today and i was wearing a shirt with very short sleeves and i literally felt my skin getting red and blotchy.. it was all over my upper arms and chest and omg it's so embarassing i hate it so much oh yeah and i also went to a dermatologist bout 2 years ago, she just told me that it's completely normal and that it won't go away and that i just have to deal with it... please tell me this isn't true, there has to be some kind of cure???!

It'd be really wonderful if wecould find a "cure" or something to fix thiss problem, instead of sharing all theses stories.

I laugh when I read the comments about other people's reactions. People really do freak out when they see it. Sometime I go along and act freaked out too just for fun. My dr gave me a name for it but for the life of me I can't remember it. It's like grapha...derma...something like that. She told me to take allergy meds if I don't want a flare up. Great for a date night, job interview or any other situation where you don't want to be in a socially awkward situation.

I also suffer with red blotches when public speaking etc. It really knocks my confidence because it happens even when I don't consciously feel nervous. After reading a few different sites I 'borrowed' one of by hubby's beta blockers over 2 days before doing some interviews in work. I'm not sure if they're meant to work that fast but on day 2, I had no embarrassing flushes. I'll certainly consider asking my doctor to prescribe them for me when I next have an uncomfortable event coming up. Hope that helps someone else as I know how inhibiting an overactive sympathetic nervous system can be.

Beta blockers are your cure. They are a miracle drug.. Search nervous rash beta blocker and read the success stories. There is hope I promise. The prescription is called proponal. At first I wouldn't go to the doc because of my anxiety but finally I got tired and went. Most of the time I just take it whenever I'm going something social I.e. Interview, concert, out to eat, shopping etc. I've come to the conclusion that it is caused by anxiety! Everyone gets red when they are hot or embarrassed. Whenever I'm in public I start thinking negative like "I know I'm gonna get the rash I just know it" and guess what happens ? I get the rash.. I read a lot about how people make jokes of it and learn to live with. After all we are human we all have something wrong with us one way or another. Anyways proponal hasn't cured me but if I took everyday it would btw it needs to get in your system for atleast 2 days before it's really effective. I took it the day of an interview and when I got to my car I was still splotched. My doc said you need to get it in your system first, I still got the job:) I hope to change peoples lives by them reading this. Please give beta blockers a try they work! Much love, Eric

This is the EXACT same as me... I've never read someones description of this so close of mine. It's so awful and embarrassing.. I also sometimes get it on my legs, especially in hot weather D: Seriously, anything to help this go away is so helpful (any tips)... Sometimes, for me, at least I get in when just sitting. Such as at a computer, all i do is be on a computer and there they are.. :(

just a suggestion seeing as i have been dealing with this recently. before when i was eating healthy and exercising i had no problems with it. all of a sudden i've been straying from my healthy ways and these blotches start ruining my life. some certain foods would cause it to be extremely worse when feeling anxious or nervous or really any emotion no matter if it was extreme or just a slight feeling. i eliminated those foods and it got a little better but still continued to ruin my days at work and i spent any spare time trying to figure out what it was. and why it came out of nowhere. then i began to detox (yogi detox tea) and it would help majorly. which meant it had to be something in my body not just allergic reaction or any of the hundreds of other ideas i had. antihistamines helped as well but once my body got used to a certain antihistamine it would stop working as effectively. so i kept researching 24-7. i knew that if the detox was helping so much something was in my body that shouldn't of been, i also began to think about the fact i wasn't receiving the nutrients i once was. which finally led me to histamine intolerance, which results in hives and many other symptoms. certain ingredients in the detox tea were fixing some major problems in my body that much was for sure. and certain foods like tomatoes were making it flare up MAJORLY. so i wrote down all of the low histamine foods and have decided to stick to those, as well as increase the amount of nutrients my body is receiving. i also wrote down all of the high histamine foods and put them on a no no's list. i suggest reading up on histamine intolerance as there is SO much info that is helpful. but the main thing is to repair your gut and liver to get your body working properly with the histamines. which is why detox was so effective. you dont have to detox but changing your diet is very important. im now working on repairing the damage in my body and hoping all of my symptems will be gone soon. but it is definitely not an immediate process. i hope this helps at least some of you.

I get these red patches after I cry, I don't know if it's normal but the body goes through a hard time when you stress, the body secretes a hormone to calm the body but sometimes it does not work, so to calm down you have to first of all calm yourself and know that it's just a bad day not a bad life, or another thing you can do is distract yourself, watch a humour video or chat with your friends to help you out, I hope this helps. Cheers
