I'm actually going for a psy. exam tomorrow as a post op. for a medtronic implant that will stimulate spine on either side with a remote. The first will be a test and if it helps then a permanent implant. However, since I was refered for this procedure, I have went to a p.t. for stretching those hip muscles. It has gotten me off most of the pain medicine, Vicitin, etc. I do use Ibup., tylenol, some but not near what I was and am now convinced that the stretches are the difference. I got a book from amazon on back, hip, pain and most of the exercises are similar if not the same. I've tried the hottest water I can stand on that hip, ice, laying on my back on a heating pad wiht legs in the seat of a chair taking the pressure off the back. I'm just tryig to think of something maybe i used that might help relieve your pain. I eventually spring had a pain dr. shoot steriod right in the spinal column next to the nerve but after three injections, no luck. However I do know people that are now pain free from the injection. It doesn't hurt at all, period.

Sorry to hear about everyone's pain. I have had severe hip pain and problems. Starting with labral tear then hip cartilage loss. I had 2 hip scopes and 3 hip replacements in the same hip. Its been awful. Unfortunately, imaging results are not very helpful especially now that I have a metal hip. But, I went to NY and had special MAVERIC MRI it did show that almost all of the tendons surrounding my hip and holding my pelvis in place are torn.  This could have happened years ago from sports trauma but no one noticed and it caused my labrum to tear and my hip to wear out prematurely and my implants to fail because my pelvis is misaligned and noneof the tendons support my hip because they have been torn for many years. this can be caused by trauma or degeneration. Not many doctors understand the soft tissue capsule of the hip. In fact, just recently they have discovered the problems that tendon tears and ruptures can cause. It is referred to by some doctors as the "rotator cuff" of the hip. They know a lot about the shoulder rotator cuff but not as far a long on the hip. Google this and also hip abductor tendinosis or tendon ruptures or tears. There are several docs knowledgable. One in New York called Dr bryan Kelly. One in chicago called dr benjamin domb.  This will cause severe pain sitting, standing, walking depending on significance of the tendon tears. good luck

I am having so many of the same problems.  I think I have occult tethered cord syndrome.  I also have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hypermobile-type) and Chiari I malformation.  It is not uncommon for them to be found together.  You will have a difficult time finding a doctor who truly understand ANY of these problems, let alone just one.  If you research these issues and you feel you have one or more of these diagnoses, please skip your GP and find a neurosurgeon who SPECIALIZES in these exact problems.  There are only a handful of NSs that will help you, rather than hurt you, or simply ignore you.  Best of luck!

wish i could give you answers. the way you feel and the way you describe your pain is exactly what i suffer with and still no diagnosis! mentally coping with pain everyday is challenging. the only thing i can advise is to stay strong and adapt your life to make things easier to cope. pain management is the key until there is a miracle. my pain was caused from 2 pregnancies with pelvic seperation, everyday is a struggle, even now sitting on a computer chair is pain. i refuse to get depressed and feel sorry for myself, theres always someone worse off and theres always hope of a cure. sending lots of love to everyone, stay strong! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I am so sorry to hear about your pain. I've similar pain and can identify with the late at night and early morning stiffness. My pain is right hip, down the front of leg and lower back that seems to stiffen as I get ready in the morning. Celebrex has saved me but where one would work for 30 days now two is required and I've had this only twice in my 54 years. I am scheduled for a MRI after 12/11/12. However I have heard from close friends that acupunture its the saving grace. As compared to your pain I am but a 2 to your 12.
