I have taken antibiotics for 4 years on and off. With antibiotics I was getting my skin under control. The dosage was 50mg a day, 100mg in sever cases. I tapered down to 50mg every second day when I felt good and when I thought that I could come off them. For acne five years ago I took Bactrim for a while. But after I was diagnosed with rosacea, I was on doxycycline. I still don’t understand what kind of condition is rosacea.

Whenever I asked a physician, why do antibiotics help rosacea? I get the answer that they really don't know and speculate that antibiotics reduce the inflammation. It seems that noone relly know what causes rosacea. No one knows is it vascular or genetic disorder. So, my conclusion is that rosacea is a vascular-inflammatory-genetic disorder.
