You're not going to like to hear this but I've been through what you're going through. I was on methadone for roughly 6 months due to an addiction from prescription Vicodin. The Vicodin withdrawals were a walk in the park compared to what I experienced when getting off Methadone....I had extreme withdrawals including having to quit my job for nearly a month. The drug has a very long half-life which means it will take a long time to get out of your system. I'm currently on hour 54 of withdrawing from Subutex which was the last drug I took to get me off of the opiates. I feel 100x's better withdrawing from this after the sheer hell I faced coming off of methadone. And I have an executive level job so I have to suffer through this without anyone in my family, friends, subordinates or colleagues knowing. I'm counting the minutes to the weekend! Since you have to be off of methadone within a week you have to stop now and unless you want to be in bed for the next several weeks without being able to move then perhaps you should consider the sub program. If however, the job was not a factor I would advise you to ween down as much as possible before jumping off all together. You're going to suffer in any case it's just a matter of now or later. I hope this didn't come off too strong but it doesn't sound like you have any time to lose with padded answers. Please contact me via Personal Message if you have any more questions or need some advice...We are all in the same boat and I wish you and your family the best. God Bless!

Thanks for your response. It seems the worse ia over for me. I'm just tired, no energy I think because i cut my dose of roxis down to 4 a day for the week b4 and then only taking 2 methadones fri 2 sat and 1 sunday that it really didnt get into my system. I'm gonna try to get in to work timorrowfor alittle while... hot showers and hot baths with epson salt have helped. Also I went to Dr who gave me trazadome to sleep ( u get about 5 hrs) and celexa for depression. I feel hyper sesitive to light, hot, cold like all my nerves are exposed but everyday I get alittle more done. I try to look toward the furture and not think about the past. If I start to tbink about the past I know where I'll end up .... so it most definitely gets better. That coming off suboxon is hell brother my x girldriend was on it for 2years and was down to a 1/4 a pill a day and when she stopped she got all the withdrawals chills cold sweats dry heeves so I have suboxon but its not for me...I tried it once and was in a cloud the whole time and expensive

Hi,
I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better. This is my second time experiencing long-term withdrawals. The first was from methadone and the second (and current) is from Subutex. If you want to hear my rather long-winded story click on the "Search" or Magifying (search) icon at the top of this forum and type; Subutex my story and mine is the first result you'll get back. I find it helps to read other peoples experiences while I'm going through this myself. No one in my personal or professional life knows my story or that I'm an addict and currently going through withdrawals. Although the initial withdrawals are horrible as I'm sure you can attest, I'm worried about the long-term effects like depression and PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) which most long-term opiate users experience. I don't remember what it's like to feel "normal" buy I sure hope I get there soon. Please update me when you have a chance, I hope this message finds you well and healing. God bless!
