i have all hte same stuff. the only thing we found out is that I have uterus didelphys, (two uterus nad cervix). pretty much I am having a double period every month. I'm miserable, they just put me on seasonique so i only have 4 periods a year to try to get my hormones under control and to give me a much needed break. You might wanna get it checked out. they found out about mine through a CT scan even when they couldn't find it doing a pelvic or ultrasound

hi, I am 16 years old, and I have the same trouble, it started about a two months ago, severe cramps, all down my back, raised temperature, abdominal pains, pains in my stomach. And constipation. The pains have ceased up during the weeks I have not been on my period, but I still often get stomach pains. When they first started I cried because the pains were so bad. And I couldn't attend college for about a week. I phoned the nhs hepline, told them my symptoms and they put it down to a urine infection. But I have had something similar before, so I knew it couldn't be that. I'm am due on my period in about 4-6 days, and my back pains are coming back, the thing that helped me is deep heat/deep freeze gel. Doesn't take the pain away, but certainly helped me through it. I hope this goes away for you all soon. Thanks you, and goodbye. xx

I read your story about painful periods. Mine is pretty much the same if not worse.

(I always had big periods with lots of pain but I could get through them with lots of over the counter meds. Then about 2 years ago one day I woke up with one huge cramp so excrutiating that all I could think of is that I have to get to the emergency room because I cannot breathe any more. The pain spread from my stomach down all the way to my kidneys then up my back muscles. The next day my period started.

That pain has started a 6-8 months long struggle with constant cramps. It would get better for a couple of days but then start again at ovulation and then again at period. The pain was not just cramps (charlie horse type stomach cramps) but also a clawing pain in my stomach day after day after day. Over the counter meds did not help at all I went through bottles of them in days. At some point I actually took Vicodine I had at home, but even that did not help. The Midol they advertise for pain actually makes it MUCH worse.

Finally fall '06 I ended up in the emergency room one day (pain along with vomiting and diarrea) where they told me that I have IBS. I just could not believe that they dismissed me with that. It could be IBS but IBS is a symptom here for something else and not the root cause. - I got antispasm medicine that was working for a while.

I am at the point that my life is spinning around my period and I think I am going to go crazy. Once it is gone I have about 4-5 days of break before I begin to feel my ovulation. That lasts for about 1 week, then I have about another short week of break before I begin to embrace for my period. I begin to feel small cramps for about 2-3 weeks before my period slowly begins to start. Even though I have these little cramps they last so long that I don't even know when my period is going to start.

I also did sonograms, x-rays with that beryllium stuff - nothing showed not even cysts. At this point I am thinking endometriosis but can that erally affect as far up as my esophagus and down to my kidneys??? hard to believe and doctors seem to just dismiss me as a whiner.

Finally after the antispasm medicines I had to deal with the pain only around my period. But now it is getting worse again and even the antispasms do not work. I am dreading every month and I am regulary missing work. For about 3 months now the pain has been excrutiating again. My morning pills right now: 2 extra strength tylenol, 2 antispasm, 1 waterpill, 1 Prilosec. It lasts until I get to work, and then I have to take 2 extra strength tylenol, 2 antispasms every 2-3 hours to at least to tell myself that I have done everything I can to ease the pain. But they do not do much any more. The cramps tend to come on every couple of minutes and then all my muscles and internal organs seem to pull into one huge cramp that holds for about a minute, while I cannot even breathe then slowly releases.

Sorry about my rant I just really need to tell about it to someone and believe I am not just imagining all this.....can anyone give me some pointers?

(I have dealt with the exact same thing for years. I have been to doctors and pretty much pushed away as it was nothing. I have gone through several birth control methods not for the reason of birth control but for the reason of trying to do something about my periods. I cant really call them monthly's cause they are not. Sometimes I would have a period two or three times a month. And the pain I would encounter yes was pretty much the exact same as you have described. I would miss a lot of work in the past when I had a job. The pain was so sever that my sister would come visit me and find me completely passed out in my apartment. The only thing that would cut my pain just a little so I could walk was two vicadine and that would not really take the pain away it would just ease it a little so I could walk a bit. I try not to take those to often though cause I get one of the side effects which cause you to itch all over. But I decided that id rather itch all over than be constantly passing out through out the day.
The over the counter drugs wouldn't even touch it. Not even that crappy mydol stuff.
Finally I went to the doc and they talked me into getting the depro shot. Worst damn thing I have ever done. Ya it got rid of my period and my cramps but many other problems have started to accure. Now I am dealing with even stranger periods. Plus hot flashes needless to say my symptoms are as if I am going through menopause and I am only 29. I have spoke to my sister about this shot she said it will take a year to get out of my system. (don't get on the shot.) Anyways so now I have to deal with the pain which is back along with all the side effect of the shot which I will list.
Side Effects: (I get almost all of them)
irregular menstrual bleeding - My period use to be long at least 7 days full blown cramps with dark color; Now they are maybe 3 days bright color blood is thin and lots of it. I will go period free for about maybe a week then it starts again
Headaches - I get headaches almost every single day. I have to go to my room close my blinds and lay on my bed with no light or sound
Nervousness - constant
Abdominal cramps - different from what I had before but they are still brutal
Dizziness - not every day but it comes and goes not the greatest feeling
Weakness or Fatigue - This part sucks I work outside love it, now I go outside and only can do about an hours work and I feel like I have been up for weeks Legs get week as well.
Leg Cramps - The only leg cramps I use to get was the ones that came with my period cramps. now I get leg cramps a lot more and they are like leg Charley horse
Nausea - I get this a lot more than I use to. I would get this when I was on my period before I started the shot and only at that time Now half way through the day for no reason I will get this feeling and it gets bad.
vaginal discharge - never had a problem till this shot started
Bloating. Backaches, Depression Insomnia, Acne (had this before been fighting it since I was younger now it is worse)
Pelvic Pain, join pains and last
Hot flashes. - holy cow I mean I could handle the weather here in Texas it would get over 100 I was just fine now if it get anywhere near 100 i sweat so much i look like i just took a shower and feel extremely over heated. I use to never like the air conditioner now I pretty much sit right under the vent and wont move..

My main point of writing this is mainly cause I thought for the longest time I was the only one that was dealing with this horrible pain during my periods but I am not. Now I am in hopes of finding someone that is in the same boat but knows what is causing it.(I don't wish this sort of pain on anyone not even my worst enemy!!!) I am tired of going to doctors only to hear ohh its just your hormones you'll grow out of it. Or its just a little pain nothing to worry about.

Well I am tired of passing out, I am tired of the pain going down into my legs and chest area and me feeling like i can not breath. I now live with my parents the whole passing out in my apartment and not knowing when i will wake is kinda a spooky thing. I have been told by friends and family that I might have Endometriosis but I am unable to get a Doctor to test for it. So in hopes of reply to your post and in hope of posting this someone will have gone through this and found out an answer to taking care of it?? I hope.
I wish everyone the best of luck if figuring this or there own period problems out. I am not about to give up on trying to get this taken care of. The doctors wont give me what I want but I will keep trying.)
(Since I was 20 I have been trying to get a hysterectomy I am told by the docs you will decide later on in life you want a kid. Well docs I am 29 and I still don't want kids. I love them critter (that is not meant rude) but I just dont want any.)

To you and the person you replied to: You're not alone and now apparently I'm not either! Both of your stories are just like mine, the excruciating pain, cramps, and IBS, and the empty results from ultrasounds and scans, and doctors dismissing it as 'probably a cyst that burst' or nothing is what I've been dealing with for the past 3 years. I'm 26 and have felt quite depressed over this for the past year because eventually I thought I either had to be way too wimpy or just imagining it because noone cares to figure out what it is. My mom, best friend and boyfriend have long suspected endometriosis or polycystic ovarian disease but doctors have said I don't have either or they wouldve shown up on my ultrasounds. I'm sent away told only to take advil but I'm in pain at least 3 weeks of every month. I want to know what this is so I can try to fix it because I DO WANT kids and don't want it to get to a point where I'm infertile, though I'm terrified it might be too late. I'm writing this in hopes that either of you or someone else with a similar story will read it and just maybe someone has been diagnosed and knows what this is, please reply! Thank you both for sharing! -kirainvancouver

My periods usually aren't severe, except every few months, but holy c**p this period has been bad. I usually only get darker lighter periods, but BAM. Heavy, thin, bright red blood. It happens to me every few months or so. When it does though. Wow. Extreme stomach pains, backaches so painful I need my husband to massage my back for over an hour just to make it feel better for a few minutes, leg cramps, really bad headaches, extreme irritability, dizziness... I'm so sorry to hear some of you go through this all the time :( Its unbearable even once in 3-4 months. I HATE taking pills, but when it gets this bad, I take codeine. Stuff gives me migraines, but honestly, I'd rather have a migraine and stay in a quiet room for a few hours than be screaming from the cramps I get... Find a cure please :p

Hi everyone. I'm sorry to hear about your aches and pains, they sound a lot worse then mine! But, has anyone tried showing this page to a doctor? Compile it into just the posts, and make a separate page listing all the symptoms combined. If you all have the same thing, it's easier for doctors to identify if you know of more symptoms. You can't tell a cold from a flu if all you know is that someone is sneezing, you know? Anyways, my case is less severe. I'm 14 and only on my fourth period ever.. It started yesterday and this is the first time it's hurt. My bleeding is heavier then last times and really really red. I even bled through my pad, underwear and pants while I slept! (not the sheets. Thank god not the sheets..) My stomach has hurt non-stop since my period started yesterday. It feels like my stomach is upset but it's not. I have no appetite, and I really just want to lay in bed all day because doing anything makes it worse. It's not unbearable yet, but I'm worried some day it might be. I'll keep doing my research, and I'll let you all know if I find anything that links to this. In the mean time, if anyone else has this problem post here. The more symptoms we have to work with, the more chance of finding out what this is.. Or at least, how to fix it.

I too have been getting these symptoms. I am 36. I have had 2 kids. Early in my teens and 21. I have always had regular clock work periods that lasted 7 days. Never really needed meds. for pain. I have never used birth control. I have been celibate for past 9 years. I had a nasty seperation and haven't bothered. To afraid to get involved with the many stds out there nowadays. Recently i started signs of Menopause i think. My mother went through early menopause she stopped her periods around 45.  Headaches, nightsweats, food cravings and irregular periods. They started last summer along with the very painful stomach cramps with the bright red bleeding. Heavy and this last time just two weeks ago i was buckled over in severe pain from the first night the period started that day. It lasted through the night with nausea and bowel movements so painful.  Feels like a huge metal ball rolling through my intestines with the gas. I thought i had food poisoning too. I have had the stomach cramps every other month or so before but this last time i thought i would need to go to the ER. I didn't and sat up in my bed all night nodding on and off. By morning hit the couch and was thankful it was letting up some but did linger for another day. I would say 40 some hrs of it. Doesn't happen every period but i am fearful it may start to. If it is menopause they say hormones can cause this. I went to the drs once and asked questions. She said could be horomones and that she would run tests for ultrasound to check for fibroids and blood test for hormone inbalances. I haven't gone for them but will if and when this hits again. I am doubtful they will find much since you all have been there and done that and dr.s push you away with no hopes of any answers. I am with you all and know its bad! And I am with the girl above who mentioned compiling these experiences and hoping a female gyno or dr stumbles on this website and searches for an answer. I wanted to add to the list. I am hoping if it is menopausal...then let the menopause come! Let my period end and hopefully I will be DONE with this! Much love to those who are suffering and pray for relief. Take care

I just posted above and also wanted to hit on possibilites that maybe the symptoms could be autoimmune related. I also have another link to this website that pretty much talks and lists the same issues. https://www.steadyhealth.com/Severe_stomach_cramps__unusually_painfull_with_bright_red_bleeding_menstruation__t82361.html?page=2

I feel for you! I've always had heavy periods but now the pain when I have a bowel movement during the period is excruciating. I usually take pain pretty well but this feels like labor pain or a ripping like pain. I'm going to ask my doctor about endometrioses. Last night I hurt so much I considered the ER but some hydrocodone from a kidney stone incident last year barely got me through it. The muscle abdomen seizing thing that makes you want to scream is scary. I just want it all out. I'm 44, had three c-sections and I'm closed for business. I applaud your conviction to not have kids if that is your choice. Some folks think everyone wants to have kids and they don't. Respect their position because there are enough kids that are here that weren't planned by anyone..and sadly not wanted. It's in the news every day.

i am currently going through this pain again after so many years the first time with it i was 18 and the drs ended up hospitalizing me because i was in so much pain noone could touch my stomach. now i am 31 and have had 6 children and my pains are back, the only way i can describe my pain is it feels like someone is taking a knife and cutting the inside of my stomach constantly, i get what reminds me of contraction like pains that make me curl up into a ball and the bleeding oh the bleeding is so bad im constantly changing, my drs scheduled an ultra sound for monday to find out if it is either endometriosis or my gallbladder, fun fun i will keep everyone posted because it sounds like we all have this misterious illness that the drs can not help with or seem to wanna help with. wishing all the best of luck

Hi everyone I posted 3 months ago. I just went into emergency surgery Friday. I was bleeding or shall I say flooding on my periods and some in between. I had gone a day earlier to a regular gyno because up till then i was seeing a nurse practitioner. The gyno office spotted what they say was a fibroid in my cervix. Which is where the discharge and bleeding was coming from. I had no idea niether did the nurse practitioner apparently becuase she kept treating me for BV. I had no pain only earlier in the year for two periods. Then nothing after that for like 4 months, just bleeding and discharge. Well I was put under general anesthesia just in case I lost more blood ( I was borderline anemic and needed blood) and also if the surgeon couldn't remove it he would have to go in above and do a hysterectomy! I am thankful he got it out vaginally and I got to keep my parts. Waiting for biopsy results post op check up appt.. Hope all is well.

So ladies having pain and bleeding in between..don't wait, get to the gyno and do have the trans vaginal ultrasound as soon as possible along with any other tests...that was the most whirlwind frightning thing for me. I wish I would have known sooner.Hope this helps someone. Take care..
