I think I agree. I have this pain also but the last couple of days I have had it like continuous because I was doing a cobra stretch for back pain. However when I put a tight wide waist band around my abdomen on the pain is virtually not there....so it looks like a muscle issue. I am going to wear the support for a couple of days and see if it helps and also try the heat stretch....

Could it be pelvic muscle prolapse? I'm having similar symptoms and trying to figure out what it is too.

Hello everyone. I m a 26 yr old male and i have for the first time experienced this pulling pain from behind navel 5 days back. Since these 5 days my stomach feels tight. but my symptoms are a little different and I am putting it point by point.
1. The pain is not vey sharp but constant.
2. The pain does not shoot to the tip of the penis but one behind the navel at a single point.
3. I suffered from constipation and gas for the first 3 days and now from diarrhoea in the last 2 days.
People belonging to rural areas say that your navel has shifted front the original place and there are certain yoga poses u could try to place the navel back to its original place. Doctors don't believe in this theory. But Guys just search it up.
Maybe it cud help.
Best wishes to all.

I find this quite awful and I can actually see my belly button being pulled in to my stomach and the only way I can avoid it is to double over and wait the pain out cause if I stand it's like something is gonna rip inside

Like many have said here it's comforting to see the amount of people that are experiencing similar issues. It is a sharp pain that is most commonly brought on when standing from a sitting positioning. I've been experiencing this pain for over 4 years and today I sought out a 2nd opinion for my case. I was told by the doctor like a person posted before of ligaments that stretch from behind the navel to the bladder called the medial umbilical ligament. The "pulling string pain" seems to be when the bladder deflates or becomes irritated or whatever it "tightens" these ligaments hence when bending over or lying in a fetal position seems to relieve this pain. I am hoping this is the culprit because apparently these ligaments are not needed and hopefully can be removed by simple surgery. I will repost later once I have more confirmation or just have surgery in general. I recommend to anyone to mention these ligaments to hopefully find a sense of relief from these pains. Good luck!

Hello,
From what I've read, I believe this problem to be muscle strain in the abdominal muscles. This can be strain from tiring movement or can be caused by sudden movements that pull on the muscle that connects your belly button to your clitoris/penis.
Heat will help soothe the pain, and I do not recommend stretching to prevent a hernia or more discomfort.
You can take a look at a diagram of the abdominal muscles. Try to find a muscle connecting the belly button area to the genitals. This is the muscle being pulled.
I have particularly tight hamstrings, and you can imagine what it would be like to suddenly be stuck in "split position". This is the same deal, but it is more common to pull an abdominal muscle so fiercely.
Hope this helped clear up some confusion!
XOXO

I actually finally talked to my doctor about this and he said it's because the uterus is actually attached to the bellybutton. But if the pain is that intense it could mean a uterine abnormality

Hi I'm 16 years of age and have been having the pulling behind my belly button too. I believe it may have to do with a urinary tract infection. I'm not sure yet tho I've already had one hernea surgery and that would be really upsetting if I had to have another :(

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. My daughter has recently started experiencing these problems. She went to the emergency room and they did testing on her and found nothing, yet the pain is still there! I am definitely going to mention and insist that they check for this with her. Thanks again!!

Hey guys,
I'm a 23 year old woman and after 4 months of tests they are performing a laparoscopic exploratory surgery. I have always felt this pain since I was little. I also feel the pain if you even touch my belly button or around it. The surgeon is thinking it could be a small umbilical hernia that is pinching the fat. I will let you all know how it goes! Surgery is this Thursday!
