I have been on vicodan 7.5mg 6 x a day for the last year. In August, my general doctor sends me a letter saying he no longer wants to see me and to go to a pain management dr.The only problem with that is..I have no pain. I used to in my back, but thats gone and now I have this adiction problem. I have been going to ER'S to get vicodan and I am down to 3 a day.I am once again out and have an appoinment with a doctor to get more ( I admit, I lie about my back to get them, I am an addict!) But I am just learning about this subuxone. Since I consider myself on a reasoably small dose now...23 mg vicodan a day..plus I am also on Effexor XR and Klonopin from my pyschiatrist. What is the best route to get rid of the vicodan cravings without getting hooked on anything else?
I have gone through the bodily withdrawals in August, but now I am in the cravings stage. Without them, I am incredibly moody and unsociable.
thx

Hi there,
I read your post, and I am totally surprised that your doctor would even tell you that!
Suboxone is an amazing new drug that helps you with opiate addiction. This would be your best thing to do. The other option is methadone, and that is not the route you should go. I am not saying that Methadone is not a good recovery tool, only that you don't need to be going every day to get your methadone, when you can get a 30 day supply from a sub doctor.
I am a Substance Abuse counselor, and I happen to work online, helping addicts with their recovery. I am also a moderator of both a Methadone and a Suboxone forums as well as websites to answer any questions you may have. I see that your post is over a month back, and I am hoping that you have also gotten some help. But just in case I wanted to help if I could.
Sending a Smile!

Suboxone is great with your withdrawal symptoms but honestly you are better off weening off vikes on your own i was on suboxone for only about a month and the withdrawal from that lasted 6 weeks and was tenfold of normal withdrawals... believe me do not go on suboxone and if you do ween down way down

Everyone has there opinion about Suboxone . You have to way out the side affects . People like us that are addics don't have much to lose . I took 1 suboxone a day for 4 months felt great , normal not high because it is not a true opiate and the narcan stops you from abusing . I took a half for 1 week and that was it all done no withdraw . They do seem to be differen;t for everyone . I think some poeple hope they get high .but forget it , maybe sleepy or dizzy at first . But the good thing with them is a doctor weens you off no more buying pills and no more cravings . lets face it thats all we have for heavy drug use and with draw
