I've always had this small mole on my back. While working out the other day I noticed it had gotten larger and darker. :umno: I made an appointment with my regular Dr. but was wondering if I should see some kind of specialist instead. Anyone been here? What can I expect?
Hi Akern,
Start with your regular doctor. If they have any questions they'd refer you to a specialist.
Any changes in the shape/color of a mole NEED to be investigated.
I'd skip the regular Dr. and go straight to the dermatologist.
You may want to go to a dermatologist for that. Is it more red/purple in color?
Black. 8O
First of all I would definitely recommend seeing a Dermatologist.
I have several that I keep an eye on, and I watch for them to get bigger or turn a more red/purple color, as I believe that is a sign of melonoma <sp?> or skin cancer. As far as turning black, I don't know

if it's not too late, and if you don't need a referral, skip the hocus-pocus doctor and go to a dermatologist. the GP will only send you there anyway cuz he'll give his standard advice
Thanks. I was thinking maybe I should see the Dermatologist instead but wasn't sure.
Though since you have an appointment with your GP go see him/her too, it could be nothing and let that doc make a referral, if it is a real problem, they could likely get you in to the specialist faster
I'll probably just go to the Dermatologist. I don't need referrals and I don't think much of my regular dr.

That's great that you don't need a referral.
I hope everything checks out all right, let us know, ok?

Not to scare you or anything but this looked interesting, good info here.....I agree, go to the derma doc first. If it is anything to worry about you want to catch it ASAP.
