You'll know if things start to get itchy, you may have some burning when you pee along with some discharge that might have an odor to it. It is similiar to a douch, which we as women don't really need. When we douch, we are upsetting the natural PH levels in our bodies, which throws off the flora, thus causing an infection. You are similating douching with the water. You can still do it the way you like, but do it standing up in the shower, just rest against the shower wall for support.

idk if it was from that exactly but i was using sum weird shampoo and i masturbated and i got a urinary track infection its really weird tho...
It's very possible to get a UTI this way. I got one when I went to Canada and my husband and i were messing around in the jacuzzi.....the jets were wonderful but the outcome was itchies and scratchies.
