I have severe form of acne for years now. I’m on antibiotics for so long time and it’s not like antibiotic is not helping but generally I’m not happy with the results. The fact is I would like to get clear skin and I’ve heard I can make it with accutane. So I’m starting accutane. What do I expect?
I have a friend whose skin has got totally cleared by accutane treatment that lasted almost five months. She looks now like she never had acne before. But she was warned that acne in most cases is to relapse and so when that happened she will be on antibiotics again if the situation is not severe. Anyway that’s for the results but accutane is basically a very strong drug that might cause you serious physical and mental damages. If you’re female it’s most likely that before being accutane prescribed you’ll have to do two pregnancy test just to make sure you’re not pregnant for the accutane might be fatal in pregnancy- it may cause premature birth or pregnancy loss but also it may lead to the death of the baby or it might cause deformities to the baby. And if you’re taking some other medicines or drugs stop it for the accutane side effects are more easily to occur in interactions with some other drugs and with vitamin A. so it is strongly recommended to reduce the amount of vitamin A for vit A and accutane are of about same consistency and their combination may trigger side effects more easily. And accutane side affects might be extremely severe such as depression, anxiety, loss of energy and concentration, fatigue and muscle weakness and in combination with some antibiotics it may cause brain swallowing. So before starting accutane you better discuss every aspect of taking it for if it is used as prescribed the side effects might be avoided.
