I've had several steroid shots because of injury to my arm & allergic to all kinds of medicine plus years ago I hurt my back & had to have the shots also. Well the last month I noticed my upper hip is a sunken in place & it's turning white. Scares me. But after look ing it up & reading everything you all have wrote I see what is causing it. It's not cool looking I know. It's not painful just not appealing to the eye. What can I do to get it out & loss of color? Any ideas? Thanks

I remember having this happen when I was a child. It was several years before the crater in my left hip filled back in and it left a scar

I am 22 years old, I got the shot Spring of 2014, I noticed the dent while on Vacation November 2014 I thought it was a strange. I later found out it was because of the shot I got for my allergies. More than a year later, this divot is definitely DEEPER and still discolored (pink/purple) I was never told about this side effect at all, if so I wouldn't have took the shot. I am super uncomfortable wearing a bikini in public. This is horrible !!!!!!
I had the same thing happen a few years back. I was very concerned about having a huge divot in my buttocks. I was able to correct it by having the same doctor inject sugar water in the divot. He injected this solution twice in a period of about 3 weeks. The divot is now gone. Hope this helps. Ask your doctors to fix the simple or divot with glucose injections. I didn't not have to pay for these as the amount of steroid used to begin with was too much, which caused the problem.
Please let me know what you find out. I wasn't warned of the side effects either. It was for a simple rash, I would have chosen a topical cream. Now I have this huge indent on the top of my butt. I want them to pay for fillers or whatever it takes to be fixed, thank you for your post.
I have had the same thing, This location thou is area is location on my upper right left arm . this injection was suppose to be given to me on my butt-ox now my muscle has been eaten away and I was told it will not come back (NICE) and to note not sure if my arm is giving me problems with weakness and is still sore at times. This injection was given to me at the end of May 2015.
Please, if you get this, go back to the doctor and tell them to do a saline Injection in the area of the indent. This will allow the tissue to regrow. I know it sound too sinple, but it's true. I had a huge indent on the top of my head that required me to get x-rays because they thought it was a malformation. I researched about the injection and saw where it was mentioned to do saline... I went to my doctor and showed him the report and he gave it a go. I think I did it twice... the fat has completely filled back in.... that's all it was... the fat, adipose, melts from the steroid for some reason.
I also have the same thing i have had mine for three years \ im getting removed the doctor told me it can turn to cancer after one year

I had cortisone shot on my left hip. I suffer with sculiosis and my hips are becoming very painful (mostly left). well it didn't take the pain away! and approximately a week later I noticed a dent in my hip! it's been about 6 weeks now and this disgusting (divet) thing is about 4" in diameter. and approximately 1' deep!! it's ugly!! and I was not warned of this happening!!! I showed my doctor (livid) she non-shalontly said... " oh yeah that sometimes happens" I was so angry, and upset, I asked why? wasn't I told!! she said well if it doesn't go into the mustle all the way... this can happen.. which caused me to get more angry! these "nurse's need to be better trained better as to how deep and where the shot go's" I'm angry and will let you know!! I am experiencing the same problem. I had a steroid shot about 8 months ago. The divot has slowly gotten larger with time and now I'm experiencing a lot of pain around all the area that I had the shot. Please let me know if you had found any relief or if it's gotten any better.
