I am 50 years old and have a very physical lifting job. Over the past 6 months or so I have started getting like a muscle spasm feeling in my upper abdomen mostly high near my rib area.

I have done this job for 6 or more years. Any ideas on what may be happening?
Well, if you had it for 6 months and the problem is not going away, it is high time you had it checked. It could be diaphragm spasms that could occur because of exertion and improper breathing. If you are exerting after your meals, the stomach could be annoying the ligaments that are linked to the diaphragm and the diaphragm may start complaining.

The condition may be serious if it start causing you pain but I reckon that you should have it checked anyway, just to be on the safe side.
