Hello everyone, I don't know about you but I'm stuck in a BG rut! My BG seems to be fairly consistent before meals, when I get up and before I go to sleep and that's around a 7.4. I know that's not real bad but I would like it to get down into the 6 range if not even in the 5s. I'm sure I can do this but I'm not sure at the moment how to. Does any one have any suggestions? I really don't want to go lower in my carbs if I don't have to. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I don't know what your daily carb intake is but you know you can lower that to some extent. You could go as low as 30 grams of carbs per day. However, I see you don't want to do that. What first comes to mind is exercise. I think the general consensus is that aerobic exercise like cardio can lower your BG considerably. That's great because it's a lot easier to do cardio than resistance training (weights). I really don't like weights. That hurt too much. You have to keep in mind that cardio like exercises will help you burn calories by increasing your metabolic rate and make you more sensitive to insulin. It's a win-win situation all the way around. I have a desk job and I often work 10 hours a day so this was a problem for me. I found out about a nature trail just a few blocks from where I work not to long ago. Everyday at lunch time I do a power walk for anywhere between 30 to 45 minutes. This has really helped to get my BG down and keep it there. You know if you have a bicycle, you could go biking everyday. That's any easy way to burn calories and you get to sit down while you're doing it.
