I have been training for a half marathon and with 2 weeks to go suddenly have a pain on the outside of my knee. It suddenly appeared after reaching 9 miles on my latest run. I couldn't continue and even though the pain stopeed when I stopped running, it appears as soon as I start again. Any ideas?
Hi Muss,

Pain on the outside of your knee usually ends up being ITBS (illiotibial band syndrome). This is one of the most common injuries that I deal with and unfortunately, one of the most stubborn.

First, aggressively ice the painful area several times per day. If you don't have a foam roller yet, buy one soon and roll your quad and IT band for a few minutes every day. It's a great tool to loosen up the area.

Stretch your quad a few times every day and see how it feels after 4-5 days. if it's just a minor case, this might be enough to get you back on track. Otherwise, you may need a more aggressive approach with specific rehab routines.

Cheers,
-Jason.
