Did going back on the pill help you to lose the weight?
Reply
I have had exactly same problem and am fed up. I quit Yasmin to start trying to conceive in May and in the last 3 months I have put on over half a stone. I don't eat fast food/crisps/red meat or drink alcohol etc maybe the odd biscuit here and there but I just keep putting it on. I feel I am going to end up having to starve myself and cut back even more but I can't live like that. My confidence is rock bottom and I feel disgusted at myself and paranoid people will think I'm pregnant when I'm not. I accept putting on weight if I actually was pregnant but at this rate I will be twice my size before I even get pregnant. The weight is mainly on my hips and I feel so bulky now.

What can I do to stop this? Anything that has helped anyone?

Oh my goodness I am so happy I have found this. I stopped taz about 2.5 months ago. I have gained about 4/5kg within that period. I have changed nothing, except cutting out my weekly pizza! I have made conscious efforts to eat as healthy and as little as possible. This is so depressing, my minds is consumed with how I can stop it. I have heard of virtex assisting other people? What about something for the after retention? I can also vouch for the looking pregnant bloating.. It's awful. I've just started trying on wedding dresses and I feel disgusting. This is a living nightmare.

OMG I'm going to the same thing! I'm going to cut out dairy and meat except for fish and eggs and see if that helps. I'll let you know if it does!! I've done it before and felt great.

Same thing has happened to me , I was on birth control from age 15 to reduce period pains as mine were awful .
I'm now 30 and stoped taking the pill after Christmas this year and got a non chemical coil fitted which was extremely painful .
I've always been slim , tall with fat in the places I want although always wanted bigger breasts , now I have bigger breasts , bigger hips and a softer stomach area .
My diet is the same and I work out everyday but feel like I'm gaining weight but mainly in the lower area , I've always had a larger bum and hip area compared to my top half which is smaller but I'm defiantly convinced it's from the hormones in the pill .
Being on it for so long almost seems to stunt development growth in some people and my sex life has defiantly imporooved as has my mind :)
I'm hoping the belly weight will shift but at least my Husband is ok with it so not to bothered , it's just interesting to read that so many have experienced this .

Have any of you girls tried inositol powder? I just ordered my first jar and have been taking it 3-times daily along with folic acid once a day. They said this dramatically reduces weight gain, moodiness, and depression associated with hormonal problems (hint being on the birth control in the first place). I'd love to hear some real life experiences with the inositol powder. Im also polycystic, and recently diagnosed with endometriosis and 23 total ovarian cysts.

OMG, I'm so glad that this has happened to others b/c I've been freaking out. I got off the pill 10 mos ago (my trainer said I'd lose 5lbs water weight) so I listened. I have gained 16lbs in about 6mos. I was still working out 5-6 times a week; eating clean; drinking lots of water; etc. I've been so stressed and finally got down to 130 (used to be 120). Now I have 10lbs to go & it's NOT coming off. I changed my workouts to shock my body; eliminated beef & pork from diet bc they take 24 days to digest; eat 5 small meals a day...couldn't be more text book! None of my clothes fit & Im just stressed!!! I'm getting back on The pill now bc I really had no negative side affects on it, lierallots just got off to lose weight and it did the exact opposite. I don't care if it's unhealthy to be on it...I gave my body almost a year break. Side affects since getting off the pill: breasts are huge (bras don't fit); 15lb quick weight gain; acne; long periods that are heavy & have no schedule...I hate not knowing when it's going to start & stop. Dear lord, I'm running to the pharmacy now to get back on Azurette & hopefully put this nightmare behind me!!!!

Update. I went back on the pill 5 months ago. I felt better immediately as I mention in my post above, but after the initial 4-5 lbs of water weight it was stuck. I kept at it, watched what I ate and exercised same as I did. A month ago I finally made my goal and is back to where I was pre stopping birth control. And it is staying off. I will never go off the pill again. It is obvious hormonal.

I got back on the pill and at first got bigger which really freaked me out but after the first week & a half I went from 130lbs to 126lbs...crazy! I also went to hormone therapist & had blood work...he confirmed that I gained bc of too much estrogen. He said getting back on BC will help with hormone levels. I'm still not back to my original weight of 120lbs but feel confident I can get their w/ continued healthy eating & exercise...just hope it doesn't take a year!

Hi All!

After going through this thread, I've realized we are not alone in our struggles! I went off the pill around April 2015 (after being on and off it for over 10 years), and opted for a non-hormonal IUD, thinking it would be better for me to be all natural. Boy was I given a run for my money!! I have gained about 20 pounds since going off the pill. I eat pretty healthy and work out and am active. I happen to be 5 foot 10, so the 20 pounds is not as devastating to my frame as it is for my female friends who are shorter, however it is still very noticeable to me. I am now in the process of getting my IUD removed, going to a nutritionist, and getting back on the pill. Let it be noted that I have never struggled with weight gain like this until now. Its pretty messed up that hormones can get so out of wack like this!
