I am a guy, I ate the same dinner everyone else did, I did not over eat, I am not sick, I do not drink nor do I take any medication. I woke up around 4am and unfortunatly started throwing up, well of course after brushing my teeth (and cleanup) I went back to bed, still feeling somewhat off key I rolled over and then within seconds I had to throw up again.

Needless to say last night was not my most comfortable night, 4 hours later and 7 or so more times (stomach was empty after the 3rd "wakeup" call). If I sit still I'm fine but my stomach now feels very uncomfortable and even somewhat slightly painful, I'm just assuming its because of constantly throwing up. Now I have never experienced anything like this nor heard of anyone thats has either, so what the heck could of caused this?
I am a 22 year old female. ive had the same problems, its been going on for the last 8 months or so. It doesn't happen to often, but I wake up in the middle of the night feeling extremely dizzy, to the point where I have to run to the bathroom and through up. It goes on for a few hours. Then after I through up my stomach hurts really bad. Like the worst cramps ive ever had in my life. Ive search everywhere and cant find a single thing that helps.

I too will wake up in the middle of the night dizzy and vomiting. I feel like I am drunk; but I'm not. My doctor put me on anxiety medication. I still wake up getting sick every once in awhile, but it is not as bad or often. But I was never told why this happens and I am still concerned and would like to seek another opinion but I have no health insurance. I have been taking this medication for 2 years now and I do not want to continue taking it but i know once I stop I will start getting sick again.

I'm a 17 year old female and have just started experiencing these same troubling symptoms. I've been waking up early in the morning (around 3 or 4) every night for the past week, usually by intensly vibrant dreams with lots of color and movement. I will toss and turn uncomfortably for a few minutes until I know I'll have to make a run for the toilet, I've usually totally digested anything I've eaten by then and end up vomiting very little and then dry-heaving violently until my stomach has had enough with me.

I really don't like waking up in the middle of a goodnight's rest to throw my guts up. So if anyone has heard of anything with these symptoms, pleeeeease have mercy and reply!! :-(

the same thing is happening to my brother..did you guys figure out anything?! we are so desperate. here's our story:

my brother is 22 years old. he has no serious medical problems and is in good shape. last april, he vomited for about 12 hours (we took him to the hospital and he was put on an IV). the next month, the same thing happened. again, we had to take him to the hospital because he was so dehydrated from vomiting. now, about 9 months later, he left to go on a cruise. he left on saturday, and for 72 hours, has not stopped vomiting. again, he was put on an IV because he was so dehydrated. he got home & everything was fine. just tonight, it started again. there is NO abdominal pain, and literally no side effects--it comes out of no where! please, please, please take some time & help. we are so desperate, the doctors don't know what to do. he is going in for some more tests next week but we don't think we can wait.

key facts:
-vomited for 12 hours straight (april, '09) location=college. no changes in diet
-vomited for 12 hours straight (may, '09) location=home, no changes in diet
-vomited for 72 hours straight (march, '10) location=cruise ship (he JUST got on the boat and immediately got sick)
-vomited for 5 hours SO FAR (today, 2 days after previous incident) location=home, ate salmon & pasta tonight..

thank you & god bless..

i am a 21 year old female and i have been experiencing similar problems. i have had problems with acid reflux the past year, and have stopped taking my medication for about the last 2 months. my symptoms were different from the norm-i had incredible nausea-but no actual vomitting. i have not felt even the lightest amount of nausea until last sunday. i went to work out, came home, took a nap, and woke up feeling incredibly nauseated. i went to bed that night, woke up about 2 or 3 in the morning, and was feeling hot and felt so sick i had to run to the bathroom. i threw up a few times, came to the bed with a bucket (good thing too) and vomited a few more times. i felt nauseated the next day and even a little the day after (on wednesday) but mostly fine. thursday i felt great. thursday night i woke up in the middle of the night beause my upper throat was BURNING! and i was hot again and i felt sick to my stomach... i went to the bathroom. after a little bit, i finally vomitted a little, and went back to the bed. thank god i kept the bucket next to the bed because i heaved like i have never heaved in my entire life. i woke up the next morning, friday, fine as could be. slept hard friday night ( last night ) and woke up today feeling fine. i went to work, ate my normal meals, came home and took a nap. once again, i woke up after about an hour and half of sleep by a horrible burning sensation in my throat and being nauseated. im at a loss. i haven't gone to the doctor yet- i figured i must have had the flu. but now i'm not so sure. no fever, and not consistently. i took a pregnancy test last night, and it came up negative. anybody have any ideas?

I have very similar symptoms. I'm 24 and since I was a little girl I have been experiencing the same reoccurring issue. It usually happens about the same time of night each time. I will start getting very uncomfortable and cold sweating. I will get nauseated so I will go hang out by the toilet. After about 20 minutes of feeling terribly nauseous I will throw up a few times. After I've thrown up my body seems to "normalize" and I feel weak but much better. I can usually go back to bed and be fine the rest of the night and day.
My Doctor told me this is symptoms of acid reflux, but I'm unconvinced because it's happened since I was a child. I have found some information about this disorder called "cyclic vomiting syndrome" or CVS. Apparently for some it can be really severe. I have a feeling that LAU106x3's brother may have this syndrome. Google it for more info.

I am a 19 (almost 20) year old female, with no serious medical conditions. I was diagnosed with acid reflux a few years ago, though I do not take anything for it, and it really doesn't bother me that often.

This has been happening to me for years... I have always woken up in the middle of the night, and if I do that, it's almost guaranteed that I will vomit. Most of the time I'm up and down for the next few hours, but the odd time, it's just been a single time -- usually multiple though. I've really never asked the doctor about it (I probably should). It happens every 1-2 months, but sometimes more often. On multiple occasions I have gotten up 3-4 nights in a row, waking up at the same time (3am-4am), and vomiting. I remember being scared to go to bed when I was younger if I had gotten in the previous night. As someone had said in one of their posts, I have also experienced the immense cramps soon-after vomiting. I did notice that a few times ago, probably four months, I had a bout of it after a very stressful evening, at someone else's home, unfortunately.

Should I get this checked out? And does any have an opinion on what this could be....?? Thank you!

I'm a 24 year old college student. After reading all of this, I can't help myself I need to post something relating my issues. None of you are alone, I too suffer these symptoms at night. and only at night. I'll start at the beginning. I've never had any stomach issues. I was never a big eater as a child, and apparently neither is my daughter, (i gave her up for adoption, so i don't know much.) I'm average weight and height, and usually feel pretty healthy. Around the time we started to get ready to move, (the week of june 1st 2010) i started to not feel well when i would eat. this seemed to get worse as time went on, instead of me feeling sick i actually got sick. would throw up anything i ate. not instantly, it would be a little while after i ate the whole meal. I ended up going to the doctor because it was getting so bad, i could keep nothing down. They told me i was constipated and needed to take laxatives. I took some natural veggie ones. after a few days i was able to make a bowl movement and everything seemed to be fine. i was no longer getting sick, everything seemed good.

a few weeks later i started getting sick again. only this time it was at night. Only at night. and always the same time, same feelings. I would find myself rolling around unable to sleep, having weird dreams, and just an overall irritated feeling in my stomach. (not actual pain per say, but literally just an uncomfortable feeling.) and i couldn't seem to make a connection. there was no patterns, no foods that triggered it more than others, nothing. another weird symptom i had that i didn't see anyone else mention was that if i would nap, which i've been doing for years, i would wake up with this stomach ache i've never experienced before. not really a "i want to puke" stomach ache, more like i ate something that was irritating my stomach. i stopped napping. I started taking multivitamins and vitamin c pills to help me at least get the nutrients my body wasn't getting on its own. (i could feel myself getting weaker and weaker.) I was talking to my mom and numerous other people about this. and the most common response i would get is check out your gallbladder. so after much research i figured it had to be my gallbladder. I ordered some beet root pills, which is supposed to promote a better gallbladder function. i no longer get as sick at night, it still happens every once in a while, but now it isn't the whole meal, just a very thick mucus like substance. (bile i'm assuming.) for a bit i would sometimes wake up four hours after bed and puke up whatever it was i ate for dinner. (literally everything, not even a bit digested.) I really have no idea what the hell is wrong with us, but all i know is the beet root helped me. I don't have health insurance yet, but when i do i'm going in to figure out what the hell is going on. I can't keep doing this everyday. i hope this post helped someone..... here is the website i got my gallbladder info from. i found it incredibly helpful. best of luck to all of you! i feel your pain. :(

Dear All. I don't know if anybody still checks this. But I have found the solution to our problems!
I too have been experiencing nausea in the middle of the night, waking up around 3 or 4 AM every night feeling sick to the stomach, throwing up food, sometimes bile....it was getting ridiculous, so I took matters into my own hands.
Instead of seeing my doctor, I decided to go see a chinese acupuncturist. I mean, think about it. Chinese medicine has been around for 2000+ years, how long has western medicine? Anyhow, the acupuncturist reviewed my symptoms (general, all over), checked the beat of my pulse, my tongue, the color of my skin, asked a bunch of questions, and ruled out any serious disease. She mentioned that it was my spleen channel that was depleted of nutrients, that I needed to "fine tune them". There was no preventative methods for this, as we're all human, we're not invincible...she says it happens when one consumes too much processed foods in a short period of time. In my case, I was taking a baking class and eating a lot of sweets late at night before bedtime. This causes your spleen & liver to work harder at night when you're asleep to break down the sugars. The doc (acupuncturist) suggested that I stick to simple sugars like sugar cane or fruits instead of cakes, desserts, ice cream etc.
Also, to avoid large meals before bedtime as the digestive tracts works about 3-4 hours after we fall asleep.
I was given a few needles for an hour, (the needles are prodded into our capillaries, generating movements or vibrations within the vessels, and creating a force to push down the blockage caused by bacteria, viruses, etc.) She then prescribed a few bags of herbal medicine, all natural. You just put it in some water, boil it down, and drink it twice a day. Seriously, NO JOKE guys. I'm healed. I haven't gotten up to throw up in the middle of the night since I took the medication. It started working the same day I saw the acupuncturist.

I hope I was able to help someone out with this post.
To find your local acupuncturist, search ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed & check for a reputable one, preferably one that practiced in China; as that's where the practice originated from..

Peace.

Hi everyone on here! If your Doctor put you on anti- anxiety meeds for this , GET A SECOND OPINION! Here's my story: I, out of the blue started getting extremely ill in the middle of the night. Wake up out of a dead sleep then get really uncomfortable with bad cramping and vomiting and diarrhea until I was so weak I was near passing out. Went back and forth to ER and then once a week I would get sick again. A nurse at the ER told me I was first experiencing Vasovagal - my BP that is already extremely low would drop then it would start. Well here's my miracle cure...are you ready...GO GLUTEN FREE! I pretty much self-diagnosed myself and knock on wood, haven't had an episode since! I consider it a wheat intolerance - if there is too much build up it almost acts like a poison in the body, thus the body must expel it somehow. In our case, the most violent way possible. Hope this helped!

I'm a 28 year old female. This has been happening to me for about a year now. Every few weeks I wake up in the middles of the night, I've noticed it's usually about 5-6 hours after I've last eaten. I'll have bouts of nausea, vomiting, chills, and diarrhea that last about an hour or so. Then I'm exhausted, fall back asleep and by morning, I'm fairly normal. I thought it was due to a Chinese supplement I take so I stopped and I still have had these episodes. So everyone you're not alone! And when someone figures it out let me know. Can't find a connection in the food I've eaten, it has always been different and sometimes shared with someone else who never has the same reaction....
