For the past five weeks I've had extremely swollen tonsils. They just appeared one day and have not gone down since, they're actually touching.

At first I went to the doctor because I thought it was strep, as my flatmate had it at the same time. They gave me Penicillin and Asprin to gargle but that didn't work.

A couple of weeks later I went back again. This time the doctor did a swab for tonsillitis and a blood test for mono/glandular fever. He also gave me some anti-inflammatory medication. I tested negative for both and the drugs did nothing.

He then put me on a week course of Synermox. This still did nothing. I'm now on a month's course of Doxycycline but this is still not working.

My throat is worse and now it's affecting my voice. I'm very short of breath when I run, but I have no other symptoms. There's no fever, no headaches.

Please, if someone else has had the same problem and has any idea what it could be, I would love to hear from you.
