I have the same problem, I had a swollen tonsil in October and went to the doctor she told me if was just viral infection went back a month later to a different doctor, she gave me penicillin and said if that doesn't help come back and we will send you to the ENT. Went back in December and they made an ENT. Appointment for me. But that's not until March. A couple weeks ago it was causing me problems. So my friend took me to Answer. They took blood and did a swab of my throat. Still waiting for results

Tonsils have been removed and the problems are still there, but minor and I think they are getting better.
Take a look at your lifestyle and think how much you are actually doing for yourself, do you get much alone time? Have you been trying to do too much....I never thought it would be stress related until I took the time to sit down and think about it. The doctors mentioned it to me, but I was o reluctant to believe it. It may be something as simple as stress....I'm not saying it definitely is but if you take some time at any point in your day...away from anyone. Think about what you do and try to do what you want to do....it seems to help me personally but everyone is different.
Maybe see friends, read..if that's your thing, whatever it is just every now and then take some time out and do what you want to do..without sounding like I've repeated..which I have but just try doing it like 2-3 days a week take a couple of hours out from everything and concentrated purely on yourself.
It may not work but it really does make you kinda stress free whilst your doing what you want to do..and then worry about what everyone else around you is doing afterwards.

Some of your post is helpful, but the part about HIV not showing up on tests for years is simply not true. People are already scared about the issues with their tonsils, and this just adds more anxiety on these types of statements. HIV would show up on RNA, ELISA, and other 4th generation tests over 95% of people in less than a month. Three months, 99%. The six month rule only applies to cancer patients, or other severe cases. HIV cannot hide from tests, never heard of such from the CDC, doctors, clinics, WebMD, and a host of other sources. I even asked this question and mentioned someone that was "communicable disease certified" was making this claim, and was told it was not true in any case, and it was scary that statement was even made by someone in the field.
Bottom line guys, see your doctor, ENT, pay attention to your symptoms, push for tests to be done. Due diligence.

Your mom needs to take you to the doctor/ENT ASAP. Push for it! Get tests done. I had the same thing at 17, and it was strep throat.

I'm also a singer and believe I have the same thing. For 8 weeks, I've had a sore throat, swollen tonsils, difficulty swallowing, swollen lymph nodes (no fever, no congestion/runny nose). The sore throat is relatively painless but the tonsils have been so swollen. It does not seem to be getting much better.
I've seen an ENT 3 times. He gave me an antibiotic, which helped just a little bit. After that though, he thinks it's just in my head. I have been stressing a lot because of it and the last week or so I've been more calm. I've had tests for bacteria, STD tests come back negative (chlamydia, gonorrea, hiv, etc). I even paid out of pocket for an oralDNA HPV test (which also came back negative).
I think I have an unusual viral infection. What's helped me is I was recently prescribed Duke's Magic Mouthwash (which has antibiotic, antifungal, steriod). It's helped clean my mouth better and the symptoms. I've been gargling with salt water (even brush with a little salt after toothpaste). Rinse with hydrogen peroxide (1% and dilute with a little water) and Duke's Magic Mouthwash.
I plan on trying a new doctor to see if they will work with me (my first doc didn't seem to have interest in exploring what's going on. It's almost like if the symptoms aren't something straight in the book, he thinks it's in my head).
