I have lost over 100 pounds by taking Adderall. It was infact perscribed by my family physician for that exact purpose. I did get a lot of criticisim for how I was losing it, from everyone but my doctor that is. Something different works for everyone. Look up the side affects so you are aware of what the drug can cause, yes thirstiness is one. As for lowering yourself. When I started taking it I took 20mg 3 times a day. Im now only taking 10mg a day. I chose to lower myself when i reached my goal weight. Most importantly do talk to your doctor. If you have heart problems or anxiety problems thos may not be the answer for you. To be honest i think this method of weight loss is extreme and should only be used if someone has a lot to lose.

Sometimes adderall is prescribed for things like lack of motivation or weight loss but not for someone who needs to lose such a small amount of weight. It needs to be used under the guidance of a doctor only. The most common things it is prescribed for is ADHD and Narcalepsy. So the key is that it is illegal to take it if it is not prescribed to you. :)

I agree, I was on adderall for a few years and dropped about 30 lbs in the first 6 months pretty quick but as soon as I told my doc I wanted off the meds because I didn't like how I couldn't sleep right it then my whole body out of whack and balance. In return, you gain it all back-plus some! It even made my thyroid shut down. Your thyroid controls your metabolism. Oh and because it makes you thirty constantly.. I ended up dehydrated to the point I got a slew of kidney stones, my vitamin D was solo dangerously low. All from Adderall. Now, I'm supposed to take it for my ADHD every day but now, I only take it when I have to work or something important happens etc. I've even had my doc cut my dose down drastically. The meds aren't safe. Don't abuse it.

Hi! I have ADHD as well, and am not on Adderall yet, however I want to get on a low dosage to help with finals week at school. Regarding weight loss though, and in general, how medication affects your body: I went off the pill (Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo to be exact) about a year ago and it took a while to get the synthetic hormones out of my system and restore balance to my hypothalamus gland...it sucked but eventually it worked, and I gained some weight and lost some, repeat, and then I leveled out. As for your situation I think you are being too strict with your diet. If you exercise too much and eat too little your metabolism will slow to the point of turning your body into a fat storer rather than a fat burner. There's a fine tipping point, but it's there. Once upon a time I ate no carbs or dessert and exercised and weight lifted 6 times a week with hot yoga on my rest day. I ate 1500 calories a day and rarely treated myself (high protein, low carb, low fat). I lost weight but then...I started gaining weight! So I exercised more, and ate less, and kept gaining, my muscle definition went away and I became anemic and vitamin deficient (B, D, C, Iron). So I gave up, thinking "I'd rather be a little chubby and enjoy a croissant every once in a while and a plate of pasta for dinner, or get to eat sweet potatoes with my salad". So that's what I did, I stopped counting calories, went mainly plant based (no more meat), ate lots of fruits and veggies, and enjoyed a croissant and espresso for breakfast (not every day of course) some pasta for lunch with asparagus and olive oil and lemon, smoothies for snacks and a BIG salad with sweet potato and grilled tempeh (my favorite) for dinner (probably around 2000 calories a day, sometimes more, sometimes less), and VOILA I started to loose weight. I was going for walks every day, riding my bike to the grocery store instead of driving...I cancled my gym membership in favor of yoga in my living room and hikes with my friends. Altogether got about 4 hours of exercise a week, plus walking to from places everyday), I've lost 15 pounds since and don't miss a thing! I eat more of a french/medditerranean diet now, I still go easy on the fat and butter but i don't shy away from it and most importantly I eat sugar! Just not the processed kind...more like fruits and honey, and desserts I made myself so one i know use all natural cane sugar or coconut sugar instead of the icky processed artificial kinds. Also I love bread, and I am not afraid to eat it anymore! Hope this helps!
I suppose I am worried about what adderall will do to me and all my progress now, I'll probably have to just force myself to eat every once in a while or keep an apple in front of me at all times so I'm reminded to eat.

My story is almost exactly like yours. All the same issues, fixes and side effects. I was off Adderall for a few months due to insurance issues and everything went down hill. When I say everything, I do mean everything. I started back on Adderall 20mg XR almost two weeks ago but it seems the fixes are slow coming this time. I do feel somewhat better but my social anxiety is still very much an issue and although I feel like I'm shrinking, the scale still remains the same. Any advice

Adderall was originally marketed as a weight loss drug. So there is no reason to be angry that it is still being used for its original purpose.

I agree with you 100%. I have chronic pain and get the same judgement when it comes to pain medication, because of people like above!

Amphetamines DO boost your metabolism. They are also thermogenics which means that when you take these types of drugs you burn MORE calories. When your body temperature goes up or you have hot flashes, it means the thermogenic side effects are kicking in. These medications for many, increase your heart rate. I take Vyvanse and am deathly afraid of gaining the 50 lbs i lost while taking the medication. I never starve myself even when I was at a high dose of 120mg. I now take 70mg but continue to freak out and self-obsess about my heart, or body temperature, or this and that, etc. It definitely boosts your metabolism in addition to curbing appetite.
