are you still looking for advice? I know this post was over a year ago, but I went through the exact same thing and finally figured out how to get healthy and lose the weight again (which mentally helped with mood/concentration). Reply to this post and we'll figure out getting in touch (a lot to type with a sprained wrist if you don't still need the advice!)

I have narcolepsy and I Now take adderall. Just started it yesterday. I was on Ritalin but got really bad headaches so my doctor switched me.

your answer was uncool. People need help not a conversation with their ëvil"mother. PS. I have serious ADHD... actually I have lived this life forever. Honest to god, I could not make lunches for my kids for 18 years because I was overwhelmed about the bag and the peanut butter. The true conflict was two fold, adhd and my kids were spoiled because I ordered out due my confusion around well... everything, I struggled every second of my life. I am not sure the Aderal will work for me because I experienced depression. I am also 170 pounds and need to lose it because I have very poor self esteem. Life is hard, man.

Thank you for writing this. I was prescribed addrall for ADD and narcolepsy. I was getting afraid after reading these responses
I have been on addrall for 5 days and I can stay awake. With narcolepsy you fall asleep no matter what. It is finally nice to be able to live a normal life when I can stay awake.

Your son's Adderall. Sounds to me like you might have a need for your own prescription.

I was on Strattera. I have also been on Adderall. I think they each have something that they fix about my ADHD symptoms. However I got super fat on Strattera I could not stop eating. I gained 60 lbs in four months. I decided to stop taking it. I cried for about two months after that at anything. Eventually I went back to adderall.

i have only ever lost weight successfully when I was on Adderall.
I never even had to try It was such a big relief for me to not obsess over food. I was too busy. I was happy, that is until I had bad side effects & or became dependant. I have been on & off Adderall.
My weight has gone up & down. While off Adderall this last time I gained the most weight ever. I spoke to my DR. I adopted an exercise program & healthier eating. I tried other meds for weight losss. I could not remain consistent. I was not losing any weight. I began doing research & found that people with ADHD have trouble with weight loss. Lightbulb moment!! I had to return to the add meds to help me focus as well as keep me consistent. Why because I have ADHD. This time I include exercise & healthy eating. Exercise also boosts seretonin levels & that I find makes me need less adderall. It is a lifestyle change. It is not all easy I have to put in effort but at least when I am taking Adderall I am able to be successful.

If you don't have ADD/ADHD the effects of Adderall are completely different than for those of us who actually suffer from this. It is not a drug to be played with. I have to take it because I have been medically diagnosed with ADHD, and food has lost all of its appeal tobme, which I have found odd. As a result, I eat less, and therefore I lose weight. The downside of Adderall is insomnia.

Don't take it if you aren't prescribed the medication. You may be one of the people whose heart can't handle the medication. It could have potentially lethal side-effects.

Thy actually have ok insurance.. It's not that bad compared to others or not having insurance at all. An adderall prescription in full without insurance is around $300
