Yes adderrall gets u motivated but won't help loose weight to just take it. U would have to be active like all weight-loss advice. And if not prescription by Dr. I would try out another method for the fact everyone's bodies are different n not all medications are good for. Eceryone.

Hi can you PLEASE TELL ME WHAT DOSAGE YOU WAS TAKING

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 7. My parents immediately put me on medication and most of them made me sick. Ridalin I was always dizzy and shaky and sick to my stomach. Focalin and Vivanz very similar. When I was 9 they tried 10mg adderal xr on me and it was the only one I could handle the side effects for. But it started to give me stomach problems so my mom would take me off of it on the weekends. I've done some research on adderal over the years and it's effect is on the central nervous system. With that comes the metabolism and it burns sugar extremely fast. And I believe burns your fat reserve because of it. But it also has the effect of messing with eating habits, and I've met several people who credit adderal for eating disorders. During the week I couldn't eat much but on the weekends I couldn't stop. I just always felt hungry. And its because it does something with that part of your nervous system. I wouldn't take it on holidays or summer break. And I took about two years off of it in my preteens early teen years. I did end up gaining weight due to tje lack of self control. Just because when you're 12, you don't think about dieting and that you eat so much. I went back on it the next year and I now have a constant battle with my weight. I'm 20 now and there was a while there where I couldn't afford it and my metabolism was so slow I went up to 200. I'm 5'10 and workes retail, so I didn't wear it too terribly. But when I got an office job that changed and I went up to 240. My doctor upped my dose to 30xr since I'm in college also and work about 50 hours a week. But he said he wanted it to suppress my appetite. Within a month I lost 10 pounds but I seriously can't force myself to eat. I feel nauseous at the thought of some foods and just completely uninterested. I try to eat snacks though because come 3:00 I get shaky and my head will hurt from my blood sugar. I still don't take it on weekends but because I'm on a high dose I feel normal saturday and eat the moderate levels. Sunday I have to watch myself more but I've just tried to curb what I pig out on. Instead of salty snacks I've been doing fruits and veggies and hitting the gym daily for 45. I can feel the difference in my weight and I love it. It does work but just be mindful of your eating habits when you don't take it.

Am I the only one who sees a connection to ADD/ADHD and anxiety? Also everyone I've ever met have decently high IQs. I was tested around 149 and I've met people with 150s diagnosed with it because it's just like your brain cannot stop. I can never stop thinking. And maybe that's why anxiety goes hand in hand with it. Along with high IQs

I am sorry that you do not "believe" in ADHD. I have a severe case of it and am a 52 year old woman who was just diagnosed. It has totally upset my life to have been misdiagnosed all these years and to have someone be so cavalier in their attitude towards such a debilitating condition is extremely sad.

I see the appeal why people abuse the drug if it helps them shred those extra pounds but it is a dependent drug. Taking it when u don't have ADD or ADHD is extremely unsafe. It's even unsafe for those who do have ADD or ADHD because they can abuse the drug by taking more than what is prescribed by your doctor. I have ADHD & I don't like to take it because I end up losing weight when I am already at a healthy weight. When you stop taking the medicine you'll gradually gain it all back & more. It's only a temporary fix.

All through grade school, my parents only paid $10-$15 for my monthly prescription of a 20 mg tab (60 count). So yeah... $80 for a bottle is because you have not so great insurance

This ticks me off -- I was given a Rx for my ADD symptoms, and was told it can cause weight loss. I would NEVER take such an addictive drug for weight loss purposes, and anyone who does should be ashamed of themselves. How about... Going to the gym? Eating a salad and fruit now and then?

I know how to get off of it -- tell your doctor to take you OFF!! It's extremely addictive and if you're only using if for weight loss and not it's ACTUAL intentions, then you should be ashamed of yourself. Quit being lazy, get off your butt, and work out to lose weight. This is pathetic.

Oh and PS - what you think will be "2 weeks to a month", will be almost guaranteed to be a LOT longer -- this causes anorexia, and it causes very bad illnesses because people get so easily addicted. Once you stop, and you "gain weight back", you'll be right back on it. I've been handed the Rx for 10mg twice a day and even though I'm 31 and overweight, I'm considering not even TRYING it, for the reasons stated. Jesus. I go to the gym and I'm trying to lose weight naturally. I may take a 10mg, but that's for my focus and losing things.

Go to a psychiatrist. Your problem appears to be more than just wanting weight loss.

I haven't started this yet -- I don't have ADD -- I'm not "Googling to hate posts", I was Googling to find out what this medication will do to me. Think before you speak.

His answer was absolutely correct. IF you need it for the ADHD and have truly been diagnosed, TAKE IT. Don't abuse it, and use it to lose weight.

PS - Alli DOES work, and I lost 20+ pounds using it. FYI. It's called eating right and working out.

FYI - the bottle of Alli, the FDA, and anyone who has ever taken Alli, will tell you, IF YOU EAT BAD FOODS WHILE ON THE PILL YOU WILL HAVE UNPLEASANT SIDE EFFECTS. Gas, loose stools, oily spotting in between, etc. If you take it with fattening food, the fat will come out. That's the point. It trains you to eat better, WHICH I DID. And lost 20 lbs. Jesus, are we just in that day in age, where people don't know how to read or research what they take before they do?? Seriously. Good Lord.

Some of the answers on this board are absolutely absurd.
