To Carole-Our daughter is 16 and we use the cloth pin on diapers and rubberpants on her at night also.I use butt paste on her with the baby powder when i pin the diaper on her at bedtime and it works! she hasn't diaper rash at all! Also,it helps to sprinkle baby powder in side the rubberpants before they are put on her, then again on the outside of them after they are on her.The powder helps keep the rubberpants soft. You should do it it with your daughters rubberpants as well.

Hey story is very similar to yours. I am a lifelong bedwetter that had to deal with those tough teen years waking up soaked in the middle of the night or in the morning. I had a very supportive mother while my dad was less so. I felt I was the only guy on earth wearing pin on diapers to bed at 14 years old especially when my older and two younger brothers never had bedwetting problems. Of course when we visited relatives, grandparents/ cousins, etc. everyone knew I wore diapers to bed. I also had plastic under the sheets because there was never a guarantee the diapers would hold everything. I was allowed to stop wearing diapers when I entered high school which I was happy about but far less happy about the results. Mid night and morning floods, washing sheets daily and if not sleeping in smelly sheets the next night. Many dr. Visits, each being very embarrassing having to talk to dr.s and nurses about bedwetting and some daytime leaking issues. I was always assured this was a condition that ai would outgrow, haha. Well if the correct testing was done then I would have discovered I was probably born with a neurogenic bladder which as a dr. Told me at age 30, made my bladder react similar to a babies and I never stood a chance of a bedwetting cure. I was told surgery was an option but that it wasn't a sure fire fix. I have opted to avoid unesessary surgery and have simply relied on thick cloth diapers at night again since age eighteen or nineteen. I also rely on daytime pads or diapers to handle the issue rather than rushing to find a toilet many times each day.

To Carole-We have a new adopted 14 year old daughter whom we have in the cloth diapers and rubberpants 24/7 and we use cornstarch babypowder on her with a product called Butt Paste on her and she doesnt get rashes! It works great so far! When we baptized and christened her three weeks ago,we did a size 8 pampers cruiser diaper on her with the rubberpants over it under her poofy white baptism gown for the ceremony, then changed her back to the cloth diapers for her reception.

I had sporadic bed wetting up until age 8. At one sleepover after having an accident, my best friend's mother put me in a diaper and plastic underpants for the second night. It wasn't as punishment but to help me stay dry and it worked. A few days later and another slight accident in my own bed and my mom & I talked about it and I sheepishly admitted to her when she asked me about wearing protection at my friend's house that it did help me sleep better. She bought the necessary items that day for me. Up until age 11 I had a plastic mattress cover on my bed and cloth diapers & plastic underpants to wear to bed. There was never a big deal made about it and I actually felt better about myself and did well in school. I had a few more sleepovers at my friend's house and though he probably knew I wore diapers and plastic underpants beneath my pajamas (it was a bit noticeable) he never teased me about it (but did ask once if I still had accidents at night). Around 11 I had less wet diapers and eventually was able to wear training underwear through age 13. By 15 I had very few accidents at night.

My main point is try whatever you and your son wish to try and be supportive. It worked great for me.

Our daughter is 13 and in puberty and bedwetting and we are using cloth diapers and plastic pants[rubberpants] on her every night. She is ok with them and they keep her bed dry.She has 2 special occasions comming up as a flower girl in her nieces wedding in April and then her confirmation on may 20.She will be turning 14 on may 7.I have told her that i want her to wear her bedwetting diapers and rubberpants under her flower girl dress just in case and she agreed. For her confirmation, she has to wear a white, poofy dress and veil with tights and white shoes and i want her to wear the diapers and rubberpants again under the tights, but havent mentioned it.Should i just tell her she is going to wear them or ask her if she would wear them?

Hi Donna
Does your daughter have problems with accidents during the day as well?
You could try her with pull ups to see how good they work for her and if they work ok she could use them at the confirmation and when she is a flower girl.
The pull ups will make it easy for her to still use the washroom when she has to and if she does have an accident they will absorb the wetting.

It would help her a great deal to be part of the decision to wear a diaper at her confirmation she would know it is for the best that she does wear it but being a teenager being part of the decision will really help her be completely comfortable with wearing a diaper during the day.

Its a medical condition and a problem she can't help and giving her the chance to give her input into wearing the diaper during the day and why it is best that she does will really benefit her asking her how she would feel about trying pull ups would be worth considering.

Our daughter is 16 and has been a bedwetter since just past turning 15.She wears the cloth pin on diapers with adult size rubberpants over them that i buy for her from Babypants.com.I dont mind washing the diapers and rubberpants and they keep her bed dry plus we are not putting disposables in the land fill.It is ironic that even tho she has her rubberpants in pink, yello, and blue and babyprints, she likes wearing the babyprint ones the best!

Hey, my son is 12 and is still wetting the bed almost every night. He wears taped disposable diapers to bed, we tried pull ups a while ago but they leaked. We tried an alarm which didn't work. I still diaper him (or his mother or stepfather does) before he goes to bed. We tried letting him do it before but we had problems where he hasn't put his own diaper on properly so we have always just kept diapering him but I am worried he is getting too old for this now.

Another thing that worries me is I ask if he is dry in the morning and he had a dry night which is quite rare but then after breakfast he got in the shower and I found his diaper was wet and warm. He must have peed himself while we were having breakfast.

Hi Guest

Bed wetting is a very frustrating and difficult problem to overcome and he probably feels really insecure that at 12 he still wets the bed.

It is difficult for kids to get the diaper on properly by themselves and with the pull-ups leaking not much can be done.

If it gets to the point he insists on putting it on himself maybe plastic pants over the diaper will help if it leaks but they are really warm.

Support and reassurance that it is not his fault that he wets the bed means a lot many associate bed wetting with just being a problem for younger kids but it is a medical issue that he can't help.

If he doean't have accidents during the and if he wet his diaper rather than getting up to pee at breakfast he needs to know that the only time he wets in the diaper is when he can't help it.

Might work better for him if his routine was changed to going to the bathroom to pee and take off his diaper as soon as he wakes up.

Hopefully in time he grows out of it on his own.

From Donna to guest 5 months ago-Thank you for your suggestion! She chose to wear the diapers and rubberpants under her white tights for the ceremony,so i put them on her after her bath when i dressed her.She wore the high waist tight so they completely covered the diapers and rubberpants. Before her party began,i had her take the diapers off and she wore the rubberpants under her tight for the rest of the day.

I can understand the situation, but i think the boys should not wear the nappies, only your daughter should. It is more appropriate for girls to wear nappies and be like innocent little girls than it is for boys.I have been to weddings, baptisms, first communions, and other special occasions and have seen both preteen and teen girls wearing nappies and plastic pants under their dresses to be cute and little girlish. You should continue on with the nappies for Georgia and get her cute plastic pants in pink, yellow and blue and babyprints to wear over her nappies. They will definitely make her feel little girlish even more and when she has her sleepovers, her friends can wear the plastic pants over their nappies as well.I have seen it a few times where teen girls wore nappies and plastic pants at slumber parties and they looked cute and acted like little kids.
