Hi
I had tetanus about 5 months ago, since then I have had pain in the breast and arm of the side of the shot. I have been rather worried about the pain but I have started trying to detox the poison. I got a kidney and liver detox from Dr A.Vogal and also a detox veg juice. There are good days and really bad days. I have not seeked professional help, although I have been reading up on this and hopefully gets tips to help rid the poison
Has happened to me since they gave the shots in grade school back in the 50's. I get deathly ill as you have described.
I am 49 years old and I have never had a Tetanus shot at all, I've had many Dr's try to give me one. I found out I was allergic to it in grade school.
Wow, in 2006 I got a DPT, a flu shot and an pneumonia shot. By late afternoon I could not get out of bed. A month or so later, I developed what was finally diagnosed as Rheumatoid Arthritis. I believe those shots sent my immune system into overdrive. My naturalopath agrees and said the month delay is what would happen. My rheumatologist disagrees however. They are both intelligent women so...Anyway I am due for my next tetanus and am very frightened. Does anyone know, does the tetanus shot have horse serum in it still?
At the age of 9, i got got cut by a serated rusty object that required medical attention. The wound required a couple of stiches and then to the amazerment of all the ER staff and my patents, my body rejected all atttempts by the doctors at the ER to inject. The small amount of the liquid that managed to enter my body resulted in severe reactions and near death leading hospitalization for a couple of days. The treating doctors advised my parents that my allergy to tetanus is at the highest level and that i would need to wear an alert bracelet at sll times which i have now done for over 50 years. So, welcome to the highly alleric to tetanus club.
When I was 11 and in 6th grade, I had to have a tetanus shot. I got it and headed right back to school. Within the hour, my entire body was swollen, I had a monster case of itchy hives all over my body, my ears closed and my throat constricted. I almost passed out. They took me to the nurse and called my mom who took me straight back to the doctor who told her that I was having an allergic reaction to the vaccine and that I should never have another since the odds for me having a possibly fatal reaction would increase with each injection. Fortunately, he was on the school board and was able to contact the right person to get it in my school records that I couldn't receive a tetanus shot. This happened right before Christmas break and I felt bad the entire time. That was 47 years ago. After I was an adult and seeing a new doctor and he asked if I was up to date on my vaccines, specifically tetanus. I told him what happened the last time I'd had 1. He told me that having an allergic reaction to a vaccine usually meant that you had at least some natural immunity. Not sure if that's true...doesn't matter because I can't have the injection. All I know is I've had dog bites, stepped on a couple of nails that went thru my shoe, cut myself on rusty barbed wire, had a couple of major wipeouts on dirt bikes that left me bruised and bloodied, had a few nasty fishing hooks pierce my skin, been in 4 auto accidents where the cars were totaled (1 head-on collision that put me in the hospital with a fractured pelvis, broken ribs and clavicle and enough cuts and bruises to make me look like I'd gone 10 rounds with Freddy Kreuger),
etc..., and I have never had a problem. No infection, nothing. So maybe the doctor knew what he was talking about. All I do know is that I will never have another tetanus shot. I've had several doctors try to talk me into having a series of low dosage injections over a period of time to try to build up my immunity but I've refused each time. I have a lot of health issues...mostly autoimmune diseases...that do not run in my family and I've often wondered if it could be related to the tetanus shots I received as a child since I found out after the big reaction I had to it at 11, that I had milder reactions to the injections, but still more than a "normal reaction", before that. I've asked several rheumatologists, an endocrinologist, every PCP I've seen over the last 25 years and have yet to receive a straight answer. The closest that I got to an answer was from the endocrinologist who told me that you just never know how someone's body is going to react to a vaccine since the whole reason behind vaccines is, basically, to cause a reaction that helps build up your immunity. And that some peoples' bodies just take the reaction further than others which could possibly cause other issues and sensitivities. I have many drug allergies and when I get a flu shot, I usually get it on a Thursday morning and take Friday off because it makes me so sick. But I'm a diabetic and my doctors pretty much force me to get it every year. Since I graduated high school, I haven't had any vaccines other than for flu and pneumonia. When I entered college, they recommended but didn't require any vaccines but they kept trying to send me to their clinic for that tetanus shot even after I told them several times about the allergy. People that have never had a serious reacion to a vaccine or any other medication have no clue what we've gone thru!
