Hi. I'm experiencing the same thing. My discharge is only from the right breast. It is concentrated in the center/opening of the nipple more inside than out. It happens spontaneously. It is a hard crust and I try to squeeze it out of peel off but it doesn't budge, then it goes away on its own. I've never been pregnant and not pregnant, 33Y/O, history of breast pain and 2 cysts located in Left breast and 1 cyst located between 4 and 5 o'clock in right breast. Recent Mammograms and Ultrasound now found areas of calcifications between 9and 11o'clock in right breast that are probably benign.

Mine completely cleared up but now it's back but not as intense I suppose is the way to describe it? I'm almost 19, but i'm too scared to go to the doctor. I assumed it was a puberty thing but now i'm not so sure. This page has helped me feel a little more calm about it though. I'm surprised theres not more online talking about what this is, there seems to be a lot of us already... maybe it is a type of dry skin that forms on sensative nipples only? I am going to dry bathing in only 100% natural products and see if it helps, also hand washing my bras etc etc. I'll post again if anything changes!

This happens to me too and I was SO relieved to find this thread! It's been happening I'm pretty sure since high school (or at least several years, I'm 22 now). I used to pick the pieces out after showers and then stopped because even thinking about it scared me. Do we know if it's really just dried skin, or dried up discharge? I've never seen any actual liquid coming out, though. If I do try and scrub the stuff away, it always comes back. Sorry, this is gross but it's a gross topic.

Also, like some of you said, if I do try to remove the stuff, my nipple looks a little open or cracked, so maybe that means it really is skin? I'm sure I should tell my mom or get it checked out, but it gives me a lot of anxiety and it made me feel a lot better to read that it happens to people who are in their teens. And the fact that it's been happening to me since I was in my teens makes me feel better too, actually. I'm going to try to moisturize more and see if that helps.

I just was at the doctor for this a few days ago. I was told it was dead skin build up. (To me it looked like a soft scab almost). She told me to scrub them witha loofa everynight in the shower and after a month or so they should be normal again. She also said you can moisturize if you need to.

I was just at the doctor for this a few days ago. She said some womens skin is not smooth, so when the dead skin falls off it gets stuck in the ridges. Once the ridges get filled then it piles on top of itself, so thats why it looks cracked or open. (Sorry if this makes no sense). Use a loofa everynight to remove the dead skin buildup, you can moisturize if you need

Thats what i thought! But homestly ive only been doing it for about 4-5 days now and they already are so much better! If they are really thick on top then i would suggest peeling some of it off first too (gross and scary, but my doctor did it without giving me warning and it didnt hurt)

Did you go over lightly with the loofa or quite rough?
