Hyperkeratosis of the nipple and areola is a rare condition; its characteristic properties are verrucous thickening and brownish discoloration of the nipples and areola. The nevoid form of the disease is extremely rare, usually seen in women in the second or third decade of life. The nipple is seldom affected alone.

We report two cases of the nevoid form of hyperkeratosis of the nipple. In both female patients, lesions developed after puberty and were confined to both nipples alone.

Guys I found this I'm still scared but it might help..

This has been happening since I started puberty at 9 years old. I'm 17 now & I'm 5 months pregnant w/ my son. For the first time in a couple months my center of my nipple had came off. At first I didn't think much of it because I thought maybe it was a sign my breast milk was coming in, & I would possibly be leaking soon... over time that need happened but I was paying more attention to my nipples & not only is it the center of my nipple coming off anymore. The rest around the center is slowly getting darker and lifting up too.
