Wondering if it is worth trying this procedure. On Oct 30th I was suppose to have a Novasure Ablation however after they started the procedure either the machine malfunctioned or they punctured a hole in uterus or there was some other anomaly that occurred and they were not able to finish the procedure. Seen the Dr yesterday and he is now wanting to try the Thermachoice ablation. I am unsure if I want to go through it all again and should just op for a hysterectomy at least then I know the issue with the pain and heavy periods is guaranteed to be finished. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks Jenn

Jenn, my feeling on it is taht you might want to seriously consider the hysterectomy, although I would like to know what exactly the condition is that you are trying to treat? Is it heavy periods? Or is it something else?

I had the Thermachoice 2 years ago & I'm very happy with the results. I haven't had any side effects or setbacks from the prodecure. I would recommend that you try this method vs. having a hysterectomy.

I had the Thermachoice Ablation done in April 2011 at the age of 33. I had my son at the end of Sept 2010 and I didn't stop bleeding except for a day here or a day there. I was soaking through a super plus tampon and into a pad in about an hour, once I was able to return to wearing them. I was discharging large clots, size of quarters or a little larger at times. I had some cramping afterwards, but it didn't last too terribly long(I just don't recall how long though). I no longer have a period, which has been wonderful for me. This was the best choice for me.

Best thing to do is talk it through with your doctor to see the best option for you. Good luck with your decision.

I had the Thermachoice done Aug 13th. and I had mild cramping after it nothing to bad for the first couple of hours. I had a bad day on the 3rd day with pain. It took me 2.5 weeks to feel like myself again because I had mine done in the hospital and was put to sleep. I was going through a super plus tampon and a pad in a hour to a hour in a half. I was passing blood clots. I have not had a period since having the ablation done. Good luck!

Jenn,

I'm 43 years old and I had this procedure done July 2012 and the machine overheated and I suffered pain that kept worsening over a two week period, several test's and Doctor appointments which finally ended up resulting in a total hysterectomy. Now I have to deal with the fact that I have hot flashes and eventually I will be put on hormone therepy replacement.

I thought I had done everything right, I had a hysteroscopy to make sure I was in good health for the procedure and I was told I was in perfect health.

Do more reseach before you decide. Good luck

Lisa
