Hi I had Thermal Ablation done on 23/4/10 and have to say up to now it has not been a pleasant experiance the procedure went well so I'm told but almost as soon as I came round I had severe pain, they gave me multiple different pain killers and a hot water bottle all to no avail. It was decided that I had to be kept in hospital at which point they took me to a ward, here I was again given more painkillers then morphine and a sleeping pill but still I had pain, I was also bleeding. The next day I demanded to go home, the pain was still intense but I wanted to be at home in my own bed. They gave me diclofenac and dihydrocodeine. I got home the bleeding was still there and heavy enough that I had to wear sanitary pads- still in pain. Over the next few day the discharge turned pinker in colour although still heavy enough to warrent wearing the pads and the pain was managable with the painkillers allthough I was getting depressed as it was relentless if I did not take painkillers pain was quite sever. I was tired all the time if I stood up for too long pain increased if I sat for too long pain increased, 6 days later I got an infection discharged turned green and smelt awful and heavy too, I felt dirty and was showering 2-3 times a day and changing pads 5-6 times now on 2 courses of antibiotics as well as both painkillers day 10 still in pain still tired and trying to do anything is hard work. I have to say that up to now I'm feeling a little disgruntled
I'm sorry to hear that you have been in so much pain, I hope it starts to subside soon. Have they stated that the procedure was completely successful, or were they unsurprised with your symptoms post-treatment? It might be worth picking their brains about why you are in so much pain, if it is normal and how common it is after treatment.
