I have had weird smelling breath for about a year and a half now. I'm not exactly sure what it smells like but my family describer it as like a 'cleaner/disenfectant smell' so I thought it might be tonsil stones since I do get them frequently. So I'm wondering if a tonsillectomy is the answer, I'm fed up of living with this breath; its damaged my confidence and I'm afraid to speak to people at close quarters.

I mouthwash and yet I still get them.

I went to a ENT a few months ago and he looked in my throat and said it was all fine. Sometimes I have periods where I have really bad weird smelling breath then a couple weeks where I'm fine. It's really terrible though, worrying if my breath is okay and I just want a solution.

I've been reading about up about this and I read that a lot of children became obese/severely overweight after getting their tonsils removed and I also do nto want that to happen to me. I'm naturally quite skinny but I read stories where slim children went to obese after their surgery.

Thoughts?

I get them too, They come and go. I usually gargle salt with warm water to help me dislodge them. I also went as far as to buy a water pick to help me dislodge them from where i can see and reach.

Anybody can get these tonsil stones no matter their body type. You could take out your tonsils, but they will just come back.

What from i understand its food particals that get stuck in the crevises of our throats by saliva or mucus. And since most food have bacteria i think it gets traped and it starts to grow.

So just keep clearing them out , rinse your throat out thuroughly and you should be fine. I for one opted out from getting my tonsils out for that reaseon because they just come back.
