I am 29 years old and I scheduled for my tonsillectomy on 08/02/11 not to mentioned I am verrrryyy scared... I have had problems with my tonsils since a child, and getting them removed. I am the worse panic freak ever so if you can imagine. Reading these stories I feel a little better but there is also some not so pleasant ones in there.

Hi, I had my tonsils removed June 30th and I'm 17. The doctor's said since I was older the recovery will take longer which is true because I am still recovering. I had pain for 10 days, but it wasn't that bad at all because they will give you pain killers that should work wonders =) It's not that scary because it's only a 20 minute or so surgery, at least mine was. The doctor cauterized (burned) where the tonsils were and I still have some healing process going on so, you will most likely have a few weeks recovery like me too. Don't worry, I was so scared, but now I feel a lot better since food isn't getting caught in my tonsils.
