Hi- I am having a revision tonsil and adenoidectomy due to chronic illness. 7 antibiotics last winter and within 3 days of stopping I had nasty green fouil smelling stuff coming out, They went in with the canera and the doc said my remaining ( they dont grow back) adenoid and tondil tissue was holding the infection. My lingual tonsils are also hypertrophic and may have to come out although that is suppose to be the worst pain ever. Although he said he may be able to "carve" the bad parts out. I am on Atkins now- I 'll have to figure out what to eat that is carbless!! Sugar free pops and jello I guess~~~ I am nervous about anesthesia- but excited about a weight loss side effect. I had 2 babies- one was a hard delivery so I am hoping since I got through that- Ic an get through this. I routinly get a painful throat with colds where you can't swallow- and only steroids help. Not sore just hurts up top to swallow. I'm sure I'll post here after the surgery I bookmarked this site.
I was taking 4 different medications when my tonsils and adenoids were taken out. Now, you are in this horrible pain, but it will be better soon. Those medications that you are taking must work. There is a difference between several people and their pain tolerance. I didn't have much pain at all. I was OK very soon, after 9 days I think. Also, it happens to everyone that they can't eat after this procedure, so you should wait too. You will recover soon, don't worry at all about this at all. Don't be nervous, whatever doubt you have, tell your doctor.
