Hi, I will have a tooth surgery in couple of days, and I need to know what to expect. I had an infection that formed a cyst near the apex of the tooth. My question is how this surgery looks like and does it hurt a lot?

Hi, I had the same tooth surgery not so long ago. I also had a cyst formed near my apex, which was infected with germs in it. The surgery involved cleaning out the cyst through a small opening in the gum. I had a local anaesthetic with some sedation, and I didn’t feel any pain (at least during the surgery). When they removed the cyst, they closed the cut in my gums with special stitches that melted away in 7 days. If I waited a little longer, the cyst could enlarge and put my jaw in danger. In case that you’re a smoker, quit before the surgery! When I came home after the tooth surgery, I had to take two painkiller tablets every six hours to control the pain. So it would be the best if you prepared the drugs before you come back home.
