Hi, folks. My friend’s kid has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and has been recommended vincristine as the chemotherapeutic drug. I know it has toxic influence, so I would like to know if kids can really use it or not. I hope someone will be able to reply. I would really appreciate it.
Hi to you too. I am sorry to hear about your friend’s kid. Vincristine indeed has many side effects. Some of them are: constipation, jaw pain, numbness, different types of aches, etc. However, not all are mild as this one. There is some evidence of its neurotoxicity. At first, this was underestimated. However, things have changed. I think that kids and adolescents still can receive it. They are controlled strictly for these side effects not to take effect. I hope this helps. Bye!
