I would like to know how the treatment of delirium looks like. As a medical student I have the occasion to see how it looks like when somebody is in the delirium. It is not a pretty picture. They definitively need help. I would like to know how to help them.
Treatment for the patients with delirium can be difficult and the condition is likely to run a course of 3 to 5 days regardless of the therapy employed. The focus of care is to identify medical problems and correct them and to control behavior and prevent injuries. Some of clinicians recommend the use of antipsychotic medications, such as 20 mg or more per day of haloperidol.
