I had implanon for 2 years after I had my son it made me gain 30lbs in two weeks but I kept it in because I didn't want to get pregnant right away so I finallt got it taken out 5 weeks ago and no period yet, my husband finished in me twice n I took two test I am pregnant! Both positive. That easy. I started getting nausea a week after I got it removed so I'm starting to think I conceived from the night before removal n my doctor said tht it can definitely happen because sperm takes time to travel. Also just for info I had no period for 2years on implanon.

Hello! I had my implanon out 9th sept 2010 and had a normal period on the 13th, and am now a week late for a period after having sex everyday since the end of my period! I had very little problems with implanon, but my arm was painful most of the time and i had it in for 2 years. I dont know whether to take a test or not, as i cant find any reliable info whether my fertility will return to normal right after removal!

So i got the implanon in on june 3rd 2010 and got it removed september 28th 2010 i only had it for 3 months and it made me crazy i had mood swings and i was always crying and i gained 8 lbs. i craved everything i could think of. i would even travel to get food. I started getting the worst migraines!!!!!! there was times when i would cry myself to sleep thats how horrible it was. I would take hot hot baths and went to the hospital around 5 times for medicine!!! i decided to take it out and the first day after removal you could actually see some color on my face instead of just being pale. I do not recommend it but you never know everybody's body is different. I still havent gotten my period and its october 11 2010 now. Im cramping as if having contractions and i feel tired and weak! I have am a part time student and i have a part time job i wonder how long these pains will take and if i could be pregnant. Can anybody help me??? can i be pregnant??

@ Celina22 - I got mine removed yesterday and they told me I shouldnt expect an actual 'period' for another 4-5wks...could be slightly longer, It all depends on what your cycles are like to begin with (so I've been told). Its different for everyone though. From what Ive calculated, its only been 2 wks since you've had it removed. If your unsure take a preg test but I dont know if the HCG levels will be high enough to get an accurate reading if you are preg. I do hope those cramps go away asap for your sack. It must be very uncomfortable! All the best though.
@ Bexie - Take a test. I have just got mine taken out. I am holding off 'trying for a baby' until the new year to give my body a break and get back to normal again lol
From what I have read from peoples personal stories, it takes some people longer to conceive after, and some others straight away.
From the info I was provided with...they did a study and got 35 or so women who got the implanon removed and I think 31 of them got preg within the first month or two. Personally I have a hard time believing that it does anything to a womens fertility. (I will find out in time though) Its sad that it takes some women longer than others and some cant get preg natural at all but it happens even for couples who have never used any type of contraception before.
I think the only person who can actually judge weather or not the implanion has had an affect on their fertility is someone who has already conceived children before and how soon they got pregnant and if its with the same partner.
The only contraception that I know of, and studies have proven to take longer to conceive is the injection contraception which can stay in the system. Talk to your GP, call a sexual health helpline, or go to a pharmacist to get the 'drug' info. I hope that its all smooth sailing for you and you get a healthly happy bub :-)
Congrats to the quest who got preggers straight away! Gives me hope :-) All the best to you

Hey Guys.
After having two implanons continuously since the age of 14 (now just turned 21 and have a promising scientific position) , I had my last removed just over a week ago to give my body a rest from it, my period finished two days later. When I was having it removed the doctor mentioned that the hormones take two days to leave my system. Unfortunately today my partner and I forgot, we had unprotected sex. I'm assuming the odds are in favour of not being pregnant. However still have a few questions.
Could I possibly be pregnant?
Was the doctor correct? How long does the body retain the hormones after removal?
Has there been any instances of infertility after extended implanon use?
Could having it from such a young age cause issues?
Any information will be greatly appreciated, because it is now clear we will need to find a more reliable method then condoms.

Me and a friend were having problems with our implanons so we both decided to get them removed. I was told that i would be very fertile for a month after i got it removed. my friend was not told that and 3 weeks later she found out she is pregnant! so it is possible!

hey!
I had so many problems with implanon, i had it for jost over a year and had to have it removed. To begin with the implanon was fine, I had regular periods... three months down the line, the pains started, back pain, nausea etc.... then 3months before I had it removed I had constant bleeding!.... I had the implanon removed in january, the removal was very painful as the nurse who took it out had said they had put the implanon in the wrong place! >;)
Since removal of implanon me and my OH havent used protection all the time (NTNP) I havent had a period for a month now.... Ive take 6preg tests all negative >;) & after reading that theres woman with the same problem as me, Im worried I may not be able to try for a pregnancy yet as I still havent started my monthly. Ive got all the pregnancy symptoms, but no pregnancy! It just seems that the implanon is out yet its still effecting my mood and my body.
I would NOT recommend anyone to use the implanon! It totally changes your moods! Although Ive been told primrose tablets help with mood swings, so I may try this in the mean time.

Hi everyone. I had my inplanon in for 3 years. Previous to my inplanon I was very fertile. I have 3 beautiful children. 2 of which were born in the same year 2007. Whilst the inplanon was in I was bleeding constantly until 2 months before removal which my peroids seemed to go back to normal. I stoped bleeding on the 4th Feb 2011, had the inplanon removed 8th Feb. The doctor told me that I would be highly fertile within 48 hours. I have had unprotected sex since and I do feel pregnant within myself. (my partner and I are TTC) It is now 20th Feb and I have done 5 pregnancy tests but all show negative. My periods are not due until 25th Feb. Am I testing to soon? As I have only ever noticed I was pregnant when I was 8 weeks along. with my previous pregnancies. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.. :?
