Hi. I started my implanon in Feb 11 and had it removed 18 Jul 11. It is now 12 Aug 11 and it has been almost a month since removal. My husband and I are trying to conceive. I was told that you can conceive any time after removal. Some ppl say that you are most fertile 48 hrs after..... But it can also take up to 4 days to get out of your system. It really depends on how your body uniquely responds to the implanon removal. Your most likely to ovulate 1-2 weeks before and 1 week after your period. Once you ovulate the egg only survives 48 hrs in your fallopian tube. If the egg is fertilized it could take a week to move down to your uterus for implantation (this is when you can test for pregnancy). Sometimes even if the egg is fertilized in the fallopian tubes, it gets flushed out with the menstrual period. But sometimes it sticks to the uterus properly and you commence the pregnancy. My advice would be to have sex daily, if possible, or as much as possible (sperm can live 3-4 days inside uterus). If this is not possible, predicting ovulation, with home tests and thermometers, can tell you when you're ovulating.... I recommend, immediately after implanon removal, beginning prenatal vitamins, diet, exercise, and healthy habits. This is what I have been doing. Don't waste your hard earned money on home pregnancy tests. After about a month, if you think you might be pregnant, get a blood pregnancy test from your gynocologist. Don't stress out if you don't conceive within the first month, everyones' body is different. Too much stress can also negatively affect the outcome. Patience is key here. :-) It never pays to get discouraged. People get pregnant all of the time...without even trying... It will come eventually. If after 6 months or so of trying and not conceiving, revisit the gynocologist, and reanalyze your living habits (overexertion, over stressed?, diet?, etc.).... For me, it has been almost 4 weeks since removal. Today I am spotting a little bit (it could mean anything: implantation, pregancy spotting, menstrual period, etc.), I am not sure. It is difficult not to worry about if I am pregnant or not, and how long it is going to take. But I am very hopeful that it will happen eventually, and very excited about the whole process and a positive outcome. This will be my first born baby. I had an abortion at 17 (most stupid and regretted thing I have ever done). My husband and I are soooo very excited to start the process of conceiving, having a successful pregnancy, a beautiful baby, and cherished part of our family. I will get a blood test here in a couple of weeks. If it is negative, we will be a little sad for the moment, but will keep trying. I just know we will get lucky...sometime. I will keep the forum update :-). Good luck to you. I hope this helps. (I forgot to mention: if you have sex in missionary position with pillow under hips and lay there for a while, orgasms help, it makes it easier for the semen to get through the cervix). Best wishes!

Hi everyone! I was doing research on getting pregnant after Implanon removal and fell upon this. I got my Implanon removed in Jan 2011 after a year of having it. My husband and I decided we wanted a baby together. I already have a four yr old son. Anyways. The whole time I was on the Implanon I didn't bleed at all. I spotted the first few months but after that Never had my period the whole time I had it in my arm. Since I've had it removed they told me I'd probably be most fertile right after getting it out.. so we went to town and nothing happened. I got my period ( not very heavy at all ) for like three days three weeks later. The first couple months I just had on/off again spotting. Then in July it hit me like a ton of bricks and had my period for like two weeks- super heavy ( going through a super plus tampon every 15 min some days) it was ridiculous! After it stopped I didn't have any period till Oct. 4th and its..Nov 17th now. I just finished my period today. It was super heavy this time for like three weeks straight! The ask a nurse told me that it was probably my uterine wall shedding a years worth of no period! In the meantime my husband and I have been having unprotected sex just hoping I will get pregnant.. The last three days I've had nausea and heartburn so.. by next week if I still feel this way I'll take a test! I can't believe its almost been a year since I got it taken out and no baby. Just goes to show that everyone is different. The implanon affects everyone different. My cousin still gets her period with it in.. a friend of mine got hers all the time too. Another friend is like me and doesn't have it at all. People have gotten pregant right away.. a couple friends of mine have said it took them over a year to get pregnant after removal. Let's hope this time around its for real. I'm tired of getting my hopes up.. taking a test.. and having it come out neg. Its a real downer. Good luck to those of you trying as well!

I had the implant twice the first time for 3 years and the second time for 9 months because me and my fiancé are trying for a baby. The first time I got the implant taken out I got my period the day after and lasted 4 days (like usual) I've always had regular periods and rarely missed them infact, never missed them. When I got it taken out 3 months ago dec 27 2011 only after nine months of having it I got my period 28 days later and was normal apart from sever cramps. But now I'm more than 10 days late! It's now march 9th and still no period. I've taken maultible pregnancy Test and nothing but negatives. It's quite depressing I want a family so bad! On the 25 of feb just befor my period was due I got clear sticky discharge which I believed to be ovulation. Could the pregnancy test be wrong? Could I be pregnant or is it more than likely just the implant stuffing with my hormones still?

I got implanon implanted when i was 17. I had it removed about 2 to 2.5 years later. I had normal periods for the first 6 months but after that no period. I loved implanon but since I have intersticial cystitis my new urologist wanted it to be removed to see if it helped my I.C. Anyways, Ive been having unprotected sex for about a year now with my boyfriend..and im really worried I cant have kids. My friends know about my sex life and their kind of stumped also. The first 6 months we were having sex it wasnt that often, but the past 6 months its been every day and he hasnt been pulling out either. So I thought for sure I would be pregnant by now. Realllyyy worried..

i have had the implanon for almost 2 years and had never been able to feel it. ive decided to get it removed as i wanted to try for my second child, it has worked very well for me no weight gain or mood swings and no period either, i went in for my doctors app and he told me he couldnt feel it wither, so i booked an app for a ultra sound, turns out they have placed it far into my muscle and now i need a operation to see if it can be removed this way... does any one know if it can cause infertility if they are unsuccesful in removing it and if they are does it lower my chnaces of falling pregnant again?>
