If you are serious about quitting, have a good physician, and use as directed, suboxone will help you stop abusing opiates. You can't expect to end this habit without having to fight and struggle against withdrawal symptoms at some point. Unless you just go through a rapid detox where you sleep through all the suffering. Listen, the struggle is nature's way of strengthening us. Suboxone just makes it so you are mentally and physically prepared for the battle when the time comes. Use it properly, listen to your doctor, and have some form of a support group handy. You are all capable of breaking free from this destructive addiction.

First of all, suboxone is made so that it cannot be used intravenously or intramuscularly. If you snort it, then you're really asking for health problems. Secondly, someone mentioned that there is no WD from suboxone. That is not true. Thirdly, how can you separate the buphenorphine from the naloxone? Are you a chemist? It's all in 1 tablet. Not possible. Naloxone aka Narcan is a <a class="wiki"

you are wrong..... Dr.s say if you bang subs you go into withdrawls from naloxone... No you do not I ang 24mgs a day add water cook it and shoot away. And if you try to quit subs the wds are worse then heroin I know this for a fact. Been through it more then once.

GUEST - 3/8/08 - First of all, regardless of what you're FRIENDS went through, unless you've been on it and dealt with it you have no idea. MOST of us are dependant on opiates that were PRESCRIBED by the same damn doctors.  The side effects alone are awful but you dont recognize them when you are on them. You get anxiety, mood swings and short tempered - ask your family members. It is good if it is managed properly OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BUT at the same time, judging people and telling them they "abused it" makes you look as ignorant as you actually are. You dont need to "treat it like you're getting high" to get addicted - you are simply replacing one drug for another. I was on it for 3 years and I MANAGED to get off of it on my own. But then I broke my back, and after it healed I had to go back on it. And you know what, the withdrawl from it is WORSE than the withdraw from some of the opiates. DONT YOU DARE SIT HERE AND TALK ABOUT SOMETHING YOU THINK YOU KNOW ABOUT BECAUSE YOUR "FRIEND" WAS ON IT. "You know from experiene." BS. Those of us THAT have had to use it, KNOW BETTER. And if you use it for a short term, rather than a lifetime, and slowly reduce, you can safely get off of it. I agree, when I went off of it, (which I had to do myself because the doctor insisted I would be on it forever and that was unacceptable for me,) I had NEVER felt better. But when I broke my back and had to go back on it, I got sick as hell when I tried to get off of it. So just because you think you know something, you dont know everything. THE REAL PROBLEM HERE is that THE PEOPLE THAT NEED IT dont have access to it. THIS IS WHY people buy it on the street. BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT TO BE ADDICTED TO OPIATES ANYMORE but dont have access to the health insurance to cover the INSANE COST of the medication and the doctors appointments once a month. Everyone thinks there's a street market for it because people abuse it, when in fact people just want relief from thier damn addiction.

I've been using suboxone for almost 2 years and the first year I took it normally, on my tongue. Also I've been buying off the streets from 8-10 bucks for an 8mg pill. But after a year, I got short one time and someone told me you can snort them to make them last. So for a year now, I've been snorting 2mg twice daily. It DOES get you high when you sniff them and it only takes half as much then when you take normally. But I HATE them now and wish I could get off of them. I try to go without but about 5 hours after I normally take it, my eyes start to water and I can't stop yawning and I get real moody and feel like sh*t! If this happens only 5 hours after, I can't imagine how days after would feel. I starting taking subs because it was cheaper than spending 100+ a day on opiates. When I could only spen 10 and it would last me 2 days! Now doctors are giving Strips because people are snorting the pills.

You guys are all wrong, just letting you know. I've been an addict for 10 years and just started suboxone yesterday. If you take it like it is prescribed you will feel no withdrawal syndromes. The Naloxone  only works if you swallow it, if you take it under your tongue for 15 minutes than spit out the rest you will only get the Bup. Bup works like this, say your Opiate receptors are bolts and the Bup are nuts that thread onto your Opiate receptors to make them shut up so you can function. Nalaxone doesn't stop you from shooting up either... Its removes all your opiates left in your brain so that you withdrawal mad. If you eat it, it will take all the opiates that are in your bowels and remove them, then your stomach will feel like sh*t.

If anyone tells you that you Suboxone doesn't work they are lying. It has saved soo many people, including me.

are you that stupid.. you are not withdrawing because your on suboxone. stop taking it thats when you will begin to withdraw just the same as you would when you stop oxy's or heroin... suboxone is a joke its as expensive if not more than a mild heroin or oxy habit if you have no insurance and the withdrawal is just as bad. only difference is that its legal so the dr's can make money off of it. don't be fooled if you wanted to quit you would do it, i have and so have many others , you can do anything if you want to bad enough

I am completely miserable and the withdrawals are killing me. I take three a day every day if i can get ahold of them,(from a really small town so people jack up the price likje $10 bucks per 10 mg pill) I really want off of them so i can get my life back. Does anybody know any programs that exist throgh doctors that would help me?? I would really appreciate the help.

you sound like a couple queers fighting ove who gets top,,,anyway suboxone is not an opiate its an opiate blocker...It should not be used for longer than 6 months and should be tapered down slowly over that time...Otherwise witrhdrawl can be awful weteher pyshical or mental...but not half as bad as withdraw from 1-2 bundles of H a day to nothing,,,Thats hell....Suboxone can save you but must be administered carefully and not be givin in high amoubts for such long times...

Here is the truth:  You need to educate yourself by reading about the drug first.  www.drugs.com , then realize that If you take suboxone like it is prescribed, under the tongue then it works, take it like a pill, then you will find it will not work. You need to simply taper off of it, and it should only take a week depending on how severe your addiction is.

As far as getting suboxone without going to a doctor, all i can say is that if you found a way to get painkillers without a doctor, then start with your dealer.

I'm speaking from multiple rehabs.

I HAVE BEEN PERSCRIBED TO SUBOXONE FOR ROUGHLY 6 YEARS NOW. IF YOU WANT SOME REAL ADVISE FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE READ ON....

Suboxone is not a miracle drug, or some kind of perfect cure for addiction. In my experience, Suboxone withdrawl is horrible, it is bad...hell on earth really. It is equally as bad a any other drug withdrawl. Suboxone withdrawls are not better or worse than any other withdrawl...withdrawl from ANY drug is horrid to get through.

BUT....what suboxone did for me is to eliminate that despirate NEED to get high, to get more and more drugs...to steal, cheat and lie to get high. Suboxone fills your bodys cravings for drugs. When I was getting oxy or heroin off the street, I would do anything! I would lie to anyone to get another dollar to buy drugs. Suboxone eliminates that craving feeling....you can finally think freely for once. You can take suboxone under doctor supervision, and feel "normal" finally. When you are taking street drugs you are always just looking for your next high, you never get to relax and enjoy the day, or enjoy family....you are ALWAYS searching for money or drugs to ensure that you will feel good and be able to "maintain" that night. Taking Suboxone frees you from all of that. You can take your perscribed dose in the morning, and relax all day. Not crave anything...you will NOT crave anymore Suboxone for the day. You can finally take a drug as perscribed and your pills will last the whole month!

It is expensive, but so are street drugs. At least on Suboxone you know what you are taking, and you get feedback from a doctor. Suboxone is not perfect, but it is much safer than scrounging the streets for drugs to make you feel normal. I would not have went to college and gotten my Bachelors degree over the last 5 years if I had not found Suboxone.

When people say taking Suboxone is like switching one drug habbit for another, that may be true. But Suboxone is NOT like other drugs. It simply does not make you feel the way other drugs do. You may have to take Suboxone every morning....but then you get to have a perfectly normal and productive day and night! You have no cravings, no nasty side effects, you arnt taking some street drug (where you dont really even know what is in it) and you are not constantly thinking about your next dose. You are free in alot of ways and can start to piece your life together. Once you get your life back on tract, then you can decide to get off Suboxone...Once you have been on Suboxone for a while your body and mind will be in a great place to tackle the withdrawls, and you will actually have a fighting chance of staying clean forever.

Again, Suboxone is not perfect. It has nasty withdrawl symptoms....but talk with your doctor, taper off slowly (painfully slow) and one day you will be clean, and both street drugs and Suboxone will be a distant memory! This drug literally saved my life, and I would recomend anyone take it who is having a serious drug addiction problem.

I am in a place now where I know for a 100% fact (addicts usually never say that) but I can..... I know for 100% sure I will never touch another street drug, or unperscribed drug again. I have not touched or really thought about drugs in the 6 years I have been on Suboxone. Once I taper off completely, which will be in the next 3 months, I will be done. And that is what Suboxone has done for me. Given me a new start.

subs are good , they really do replace your oxy addiction i went 2 days without any subs and felt crappy i dint know you have to really taper yourself off suboxone for as long as possible. 2mg a day for 2 months should get u down slow enough just so u have some normal feelings i get very edgy with no suboxone at all,its very very powerful sh*t.
