Hi,

I was wondering, could you tell me the full name of the metamucil product that's worked best for you. I am going to buy some and get it sent over to Japan, which may cost a fair bit, so I want to make sure I get the most effective one. Thanks. dude

Not sure if this will help, but I'm taking Metamucil (brand name) twice a day and it helps.  Seriously, when I took the generic form of Konsyl it worked better, but that stuff was so nasty and would barely dissolve in water that I switched to Metamucil because it's so convenient.  Based on what X had said before, I decided to try gentle water rinsing, too. Spraying hot water with the detachable shower head was definitely not good, but I've found that sitting in a tub of lukewarm/warm water for a few minutes helps (I suppose if you have a sitz bath it's even better), and if you're basically clean, a dip in a swimming pool helps too.  Seriously, for me anyway, a big part is the dried fecal matter stuck to the hair in the anal area; it scrapes together and everything gets more irritated and starts to leak and smell.  But if you can soak it for a few minutes (as opposed to wiping or scratching or whatever else), that softens the hair and things feel better.  Yes, I understand this probably won't work for everybody, but maybe it will work for you.

Hello again. I now have had Squishy Butt for 1.6 years. Probiotics were useless and I consumed trillions upon trillions.  As another user stated, "after harsh antibiotics were taken, the good flora in my intestine was virtually wiped out." and I believe this is what has happened to the vast number of us. The mucous-like smelling fishy stuff "Squishy Butt" is like  a runny nose during a cold virus.  All of us are suffering from intestines full of bad bacteria and the mucous is being made in abundance to fight this bad bacteria. This mucous has the ability to seep out of the anus uncontrolled and in some cases, stink up a room.

C-DIFF bacterial is the likely cause of all our problems and the test for it can only be done when you have diarrhea, as I found out wasting my time at Kaiser because no one told me. The doctor would not prescribe the C-Dfff killer antibiotic, so I will need to get some at the fish store. It's really to bad I have to dip so low as to taking fish antibiotics, but these doctors are freaking useless and I believe they are protecting the drug company's from legal action.

Tomorrow I go in for my first Colonoscopy as a routine exam. Lets see what they say about it.

What is the C-DIFF and what is "the fish store"? Good luck with the colonoscopy.

Clostridium difficile = C-DIFF. Fish suffer for this same organism and they sell an antibiotic for fish which is the same stuff prescribed to humans. A post a few pages back describes it better. If you have C-Diff in your colon and 3 % of us do, then it's likely that is the cause of "Squishy Butt" however, it can also be as simple as a yeast infection within the colon. Either way the colon has a cold and an runny nose.

ok, I am a 56yr old female and this leakage after bowl movement has been going on with me for almost a yr. I am very knowledgeable in the medical field and to date can only offer you this info, in 2010 I went into Renal failure and was in Hospice care for 7months. Did not have this problem at that time. I am also a Sarcoma (cancer) survivor and had many forms of treatment. Not in this area but treatment affects the entire body. Last yr I fell and broke my clavical and surgery was done three different times, the last one a form of material not taken from a cadaver, was used as I did not have enough skin, it did not take and MRSA set in. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a really nasty form of infection which used to be contracted from hospitals but now can be contracted in various places and since then this problem you have all been speaking of began. I was on a PIC Line (iv in main art) because I was on such a high dose of antibiotics 3200mg per day for 6 weeks after release from hosp. so high dose antibiotics could be part of the problem, however I don't believe eating fiber will do it as even though fiber is needed for everyone, this seems to be a problem of maybe lower bowel muscle strength or maybe a colonoscopy is needed, If you are 50 for sure that needs to be done, but in any case this is not normal and I for one am tired of being tied to the house the day I have a movement which I don't everyday but it is a guessing game that is why they call it "practicing medicine" that is just what they do when they can't figure something out. I do have many specialists I see and if I come up with anything I will let everyone know for sure. So sorry you all are having to deal with this as well. Take care every one and keep your spirits up, we will find out eventually and get better. God bless to one and all.

My Colonoscopy was a success with no abnormalities. I still firmly believe this is an invasion of bad bacteria, after the good was wiped out by strong Antibiotics.

I think i will try the Vinegar and Coconut oil strategy next. If that doesn't work then I will do the fish antibiotics.

Hi doses of an antibiotics capable of killing MRSA was the cause of your "Squish Butt". It killed all the good flora in your intestine and left the bad to flourish. Your colon has since been creating mucous in abundance to fight the low grade infections you now have in your large intestine. It's just a matter of de-weeding the colon and planting new grass. The de-weeding has to happen first or the new grass will not grow. How to do this? Well that's the reason for this forum.
If any of your connections can think "out of the box", which my doctors can't seem to do, please post their thoughts. Thanks.

I am a 27 year old male with schizophrenia. I've been date raped several times. Brutally. Anyways I have had trouble wiping my butt cleanly for years and it takes several dozens of wipes to clean anus, then I leak. My sense of smell is terrible because I smoke.  I cured it with stool softener but that caused me to hear voices again and have high anxiety. If anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

!! Situation Solved !! Ok, pay attention here as my condition is solved and it may not be what everyone is suffering from. I will tell you this: Multiple doctors really didn't give me medication to treat this but knew what it was I believe all along. The reason for this is unknown but I speculate the medicene used has many side affect which in a strange way are related to other things I had to deal with which I won't bother to mention because it's not this topic.

Anyhow, I was perscribed Metronidazole which is taken orally for 10 days. I looked it up and it's to treat, ready for this?, C-Diff. (Kills Bacteria - the bad kind) And here is the part you have been waiting for. In less than 24 hours the problem stopped dead.  Meaning no leaks, no nothing. Normal. I forgot what normal was/is until now.

How I got to this: I took Probiotics, the cheap ones. It helped so I figured it was Bacteria. I already knew the leak like Jim described as a runny nose for the butt made sense. The problem is, most of the good bacteria you take can't make it all the way down there alive. Someone said "like throwing grass seed on weeds", this is true. And some people even need fecal transplants. (Great show on PBS about this by the way, look it up). Anyhow, I got tired of this and called my MD and STRESSED I was suffering (which I was) and next thing I know I'm taking an antibiotic that helps.

Sadly, you will have to do some research these days to get the help you need, and even more sad, you need to press to get a drug that cures the condition because I believe the doctors are afraid to prescribe them. Or, maybe we are afraid to trust a doctor. Either way, you have to try all aveues. I will report if things ever change, however you can research the answers. Keep in mind there is no way to predict if this will return as it happens that C-diff can be caught many other ways and not just due to antibiotics.

Look up the results of the drug but be warned you may find out more about your other conditions that brought you to having your condition in the first place. C-diff alone is a scary epidemic IMO and easy to catch. The cure is just as harmful.

Best wishes to all of you in getting over your conditions.

It is not limited to 40-year olds.  At 63 I thought it was age, but the issue (pun intended) is that same as that of the others.   You put a folded up piece of toilet paper there and an hour later it really looks like something has been leaking a clear-ish fluid, and maybe some other discoloration.

It began right after I witched jobs, so I thought it was some pesticide or fertilizer in the coffee-brand we were drinking at the office.  Still might be.  20 years ago a doc suggested to give up coffee, I did so for a year, and then went back on coffee and the symptoms did not return.  Until last year.  I ail ask the office to switch brands (not just flavors) and see if things change.

I will also try ALL the other suggestions here, because I am not a lab-rat, but a guy with problem that is just, nasty.   Thank God and DARPA for the Internet so we can talk these things out.

Report: 1/2 bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar down the hatch and there is significant reduction in SB. I mixed 3 capfuls per 8 OZ of apple juice each day. Any other way of drinking cider vinegar is un-tolerable.

Cider vinegar kills C-Diff, but in a very slow way compared to Metronidazole. After I consume the bottle I will do a test run for one week without the Metamucil. Lets hope it works before I have to resort to Fish antibiotics.
