Hey,

So I've had fiberoscopy and colonoscopy and they said I don't have Crohn's, but still no closer to a cure. The air con where I work is A NIGHTMARE. If I switch it on when I'm outside the room, it's fine... but if it's on for 30 seconds when I'm in the room, THE WHOLE ROOM SMELLS TERRIBLE - kind of like someone spilt vinegar on a fish. Sorry.. that's graphic. But that's how bad things are socially for me, and everyone remarks on it. I'm going to try the fibre rusk thing twice a day. I've cut out coffee, but now I feel I need to go all the way with dietary stuff and reducing stress in the hope I can battle some of these symptoms. I will probably have another scan, and i have yet to hear my doctor's response to the colonoscopy report . So here goes, from tomorrow, I will have halfed my carbs, started eating less red meat, drinking more water, cutting sugars where I can, doing light exercise more often, avoiding wheat where possible + trying to eat more garlic. I can't get cranberry here! I'm intrigued by the guest who said he/she'd cured things. It sounds very impressive. I'm gonna try the cider vinegar thing as soon as I can do. Worth a go. I suspect something's gone horrifically wrong with my stomach, my only choice is to battle to try and improve my own quality of life even if doctors can't figure out what's causing it. replacing bad bacteria with good bacteria seems an intelligent way to try.

I wish you all the best. And remember, worse things happen to people at sea. I have a good life now, and I'm not gonna let this s*&( ruin my life - even if it is the most embarrassing, upsetting thing to me.

Been a while since I commented. Just telling you guys my progress after months.

So 2 spoons of metamutacil continues to do the trick. I can sometimes get by with just 1 spoon but can't make it consecutive days.

In terms of missing a day's dose, it all goes to sh*t afterwards. Gets me back the memories of leaky, itchy, and burning sensations.

Also, alcohol and coffee (not necessarily caffeine since I can drink tea) remains to be my weakness no matter how much metamucil I take. It just won't work against it.

Been off the probiotics for months now and will quit it entirely since it was a total waste of money.

Honestly, I don't think we'll ever cure this disease since it's not something widespread. I guess I gotta stock up on my metamucil.

Ok here's some news,

I finally mentioned this to a basic MD who in turn gave me the info most of us need to hear. First, I'm going to say that yes, there are many factors for this condition so do see a doctor if you can.

If your condition falls into the "I can't figure it out" catagory, and doctors only tell you the obvious this info is for you.

What the MD told me is that 30% of the population suffers from this at various levels. It's cause? As you guessed, many factors. What is actually going in? The stuff we call "discharge" is simply mucus from the intestine. This mucus is 1)Very irritating to skin 2)Foul smelling 3) There to protect the intestine.

The solution he provided is find the root of the problem or simply wipe up.

I liked this answer because it tells me it's a condition. Like, for instance: Ever get nervous but not know it? Sure you have because your sweat got stinky. Or, you had wet underarms. Why? Who really knows... it's the bodys way of doing something beyond our physical control.

I blamed stress. So I feel I came close to an answer. His belief is that there are medications to suppress our condition from a mind perspective. I don't really want to take that path personally but I might someday.

Our lives these days are complicated. We no longer gather food and build shelters, instead we spend time in environments that are hostile and mentally challenging. Our worries are directed in directions beyond comprehensive thought mostly so I agree this is the ultimate reason for the condition.

When was the last time anyone here didn't worry, compete, stress, or challange something? When was the last time you drove to the beach or lake and watched the sun set with a blank mind? When was the last time you had time?

Result: I slowed down my life a little, became a little kinder, and now worry less. CONDITION IMPROVED. It's not completely gone, but it's better.

Again, best of luck to everyone. I hope we all find the answer to our individual conditions. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Yes, two great posts, I think.  The Metamucil does more for me than anything else has.  It seems to make things more solid, so there's less to leak out.  Eminentdude, I hope you're trying this out.  Also, I recently got laid off and, being out of the daily grind of work, I've seen even more improvement, so I absolutely believe in the stress angle.  30%?  I guess I shouldn't be surprised.  I've learned to decode people's language when they say they have a stomachache or a bad reaction to food or if they're suddenly turning to yoga or therapeutic massage or something: I think that, most of the time, it's probably this problem to some degree.

Before computers and "forums" it was not possible to find other people with a same, or similar health problem. Thankfully we now have a means to find people who are in the same boat. In some odd way it is comforting. I suppose it's because it's because we find out we are not alone. Let's continue to share this forum with people who are just trying to find answers to a very difficult and embarrassing condition, whether it is food, stress, antibiotic or physiologically related....
and be thankful!

Anal Seepage / Rectal Mucus Discharge HELP !Okay for a while [well it started in September 2012] i have been getting anal leakage that smells very bad. My shorts get wet and in between my butt cheeks is all wet and creamy. At first it was a little then it got worse. Then it started to smell very bad [everyone in class could smell it]. It goes on forever and everyday! I shower daily and use the bathroom everyday. I also wipe good and make sure it's clean. But somehow when i sit down in class or even walk , it gets wet and smelly! Please someone help. I never had sex in my life. I also do rectal exercises [tense the butt hole and release]. I do this to make sure my rectal is closed properly. I went to the doctor and did a stool test. He said it was normal . Nothing wrong with me. At home when i walk and sit there is no smell. It may get a little wet around butt cheeks but no SMELL! Just when i am at school or somewhere else! So results tested negative and he gave me appointment with a specialist for examination and that's in APRIL 2013 (in two months).

These ARE my symptoms:

-First it was when i sat down but now it's when i walk too ! smells like sh*t!

- Leakage from anus and in between my cheeks i wet. [UNCONTROLLABLE , I try to Control it but till can't]

- Very bad smell on going ! NON-STOP-Uncomfortable when i sit down or walk.

- It seems that my anus is stretched or something and i have to squeeze or tense to hold the leakage but STILL UNCONTROLLABLE!

Now those are my symptoms and these are the things i do daily:

-Eat healthy food like eggs,meat,yogurt,etc.

-I drink 6-7 glasses of water daily

-I workout daily-I use the bathroom daily which is normal.

-My farts are all silent and NOT loud ? WEIRD! my farts use to be loud .

- I shower daily and wash  my clothes on the weekend.

So as you can see I am very clean. So WTF? I tried to take more fiber, protein, and nothing helpful! I even bought GOLD BOND and applied it in between butt cheeks. I can't control it ! This is embarrassing. You guys are lucky you're over 30-40 years old. You guys are married and had your young age but me , i'm 15 and my LIFE is ruined. Everyone in class makes fun of me ! Please SOMEONE HELP! My doctor didn't know sh*t!

Hey all, big thanks to everyone in this forum, and X for the inspiring post! i agree, stress must play a part. I'm trying meditation, and just to stop pointless thought processes so I can slow my heartrate down and relax. I think I have mild hypertension. Unfortunately, I can't change my job for maybe another 6 months, so I just have to do my best to release stress when I can. I've found pro-biotic yoghurts to be completely pointless. The garlic diet didn't really work for me and certainly a high carb diet was terrible! I've found I feel better just trying to eat a balanced diet. Sometimes I eat chocolate, but I always make sure I get some fresh fruit once every 2 days (at least) and vegetables every day. to the young guest, sorry that you're going through something so crappy at your age. it's not your fault and I have the same problem in rooms with other people and the silent gas thing. I also see bubbles in the bath every 20 seconds or so. the good news is, you will find a girlfriend/boyfriend who loves you for who you are, and as you get older, you'll realize that the people who judge you negatively for a problem you can do probably don't realise that they're offending you - they're just commenting on their experience. The upshot is you may have something different, in fact we may each have a different condition, but we share symptoms. I've had all my symptoms for 2 years, but I'm not giving up. I think relieving stress is a big part of the healing process. I may have this for the rest of my life, and work is embarassing as hell... but i have friends and a girl that love me for who i am. The best thing I can do is try my best to let myself heal and relax as much as I can. I would definitely keep going to your doctor, and make sure you keep doing some kind of exercise. I really hope you don't feel life is ruined. yea, of course it's more difficult, but to be honest, I feel this illness has taught me a lot about how I judge other people, and also how many people out there may have invisible illnesses, for which they suffer in silence. I will keep searching for a cure. and I'm hopeful I can get hold of this metamucil stuff in Japan somehow as it sounds the most hopeful. All the best to everyone, stay positive.

Personally I think we are all suffering from small bouts of C-Difficle in the intestines, thus the intestines is creating mucus to combat it and that mucus causes Squishy Butt. I did the poop scoop test last week and I am awaiting results to see if I'm positive for C-Diff. I hope I am so I would then confirm the cause and cure it once and for all.

I have narrowed it down to one of two things, C-Difficle or Celiac disease, a condition that damages the lining of
the small intestine and prevents it from absorbing parts of food that are important for staying healthy. The damage
is due to a reaction to eating gluten, which is found in wheat, barley, rye, and possibly oats. You can search the web, but at least one good article is at:

Like everyone else I struggle with this, more as an inconvenience in the "here and now", but as a concern for my future health.

I had the same problem, and like you went to the G.P.I was told it was my age, I am a lot older than you. I went to boots, and the health shops and asked to see Probio 7 that was recommended on the internet. I tried this and after 2 days magic!! my problem disapeared. Please try it .I know it can be very embarrassing . I have finished one months supply and have had no further problem. It is in capsule form and one a day is all that is necessary. Boots have an offer of three for the price of two packets, but to try I would go to holland and barrat as one packet is cheaper. good luck hope this helps. JFD

I've had this problem for almost a year, went to the doctor, he had no idea what to do for me. It's very scary, especially when the doctor had no idea . A few months later I went to a different doctor, he told me I needed more fiber in my diet, so I started to take metamucil every morning. The first week, I noticed a difference, No more "leakage." I think you should give it a try - maybe it'll work for you like it worked for me.

I've had this same problem for almost a year. Went to the doctor, he was no help. He told me to change my diet, so I tracked what I ate daily to see if one certain food was causing this problem.  Nothing....so I went to a different doctor. He told me I needed more fiber in my diet, so I started metamucil. Things have changed for the better - no more "leakage" and I think you should give it a try - if it worked for me, it might work for you.  Now they sell metamucil pills, so if you don't like the orange tasting liquid, you can take the pills.  Honestly, it works.
