I made this mistake of eating a Sheppards pie form Trader Joes one evening. The next day I had a slight case of SquishyButt. I looked at the ingredients and sure enough, tomatoes were in the sauce. All is well now going on 3 weeks.

Just giving you guys an update after 2 months or so.
So two spoons of metamucil seems to do it. However, extensive continuous walking (30 minutes or greater) does not seem to help, only if I have had a bowel movement within a few hours. But if I wait like 6+ hours before i walk a lot, it seems to be fine.
On the side note. I realized, alcohol and coffee (not necessarily caffeine since tea is fine) will induce it a lot, regardless of the 2 teaspoons of metamucil. Those are the only two things that seems to affect me.
Until a verified cure is on the horizon, I will continue to do the 2 spoons of metamucil treatment. Already spent too much money on probiotics so I'm going to take a break and be happy with what I have.
I will continue to monitor this thread and keep you guys updated if I come across any information. Best of luck to everyone.

Florastor, Culturelle, Renew, keifer yogurt did not help me at all. It just made my stool extra extra soft.

Update....Here's an update for me and what's worked so far. I did the Metamucil thing for a while and it seemed to work somewhat. After a week of being bloated and gassy, I decided to see if my diet was causing it. I kept a daily journal of what I ate and what my BM was like the next day. I even stopped taking my cholesterol medicine. So far it looks like my diet is causing a majority of my issues. I usually ate a protein bar every day for a stack, but once I stopped eating those, my squishy butt was pretty much gone. Soooo, I've narrowed it to protein bars and my medicine. I started taking my medicine a few days ago, so I'm going to see how well it goes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I just read it could possibly be a tomato based issue. I'll keep that in mind as well.
Thanks again!

The way that Monsanto has been messing with the vegetables genetically engineering them, it's no wonder that we have these problems. Genetic engineering our food was never tested long term until recently by the French. The results are not good. It seems that Corn was turned into a pesticide factory. They somehow changed the DNA and now the corn actually produces something called a BT Toxin. This bt toxin once ingested by pests causes their stomach to explode. It is a fact that once in the intestines the BT Toxin continues to produce this pesticide in us internally.
Prop 37 in CA would have required all fruits, veggies, products containing gmo's to be labeled. That went down in flames, so it's up to YOU now to educate yourself. All I know is that I have much less problems on a gmo free diet. Much blessings to this group for being a wealth of information. Just passing on the love.

so i have had the same thing for a couple years. then this past summer i had a lot of stress with moving, etc. and had an acute episode of bleeding from the rectum, low hemoglobin and severe abdominal pain and was losing a couple lbs per week. they wanted to scope me right away but i said no way! the pain was so bad i couldn't imagine it, especially since i cannot tolerate the medications they use for sedation. so the doc said try stopping dairy and fructose. i did and in about 3-4 days the pain and bleeding subsided and i was feeling much better. so i went on a pretty strict regimen of no dairy or fructose. i also stopped coffee and tea on my own. mostly i was just eating vegetables and meat. within days i was having 'normal' bowel movements for the first time in years. my hgb was still low and i had another episode of bleeding so i consented to the scope which was unremarkable for anything that would cause these symptoms.
eventually i started relaxing my diet and have returned to drinking coffee and tea and eating fructose but no dairy. the leaking has returned somewhat although the irritation is not so bad. so, i really think there was more than one source to my problems. the dairy seemed like a big one and the doc said it is not unusual for people to become intolerant of dairy around age 50 which is why he suggested stopping it. apparently the fructose tends to digest poorly and lingers in the colon and can cause mild symptoms on its own and aggravate others. i've really been enjoying the coffee and tea but im ready to try abstaining again to see if i can clear this up. it might be worth the price to pay.

look its all over the net. Anytime you take a antibiotic especially broad spectrum it can kill off good bacteria in the gut. Its called c. difficile broad spectrum kills all the good and lets the c. difficile grow like crazy. the number one cure is
Flagyl (Metronidazole) its another antibiotic that kills only c.difficle which lets your natural bacteria take back over. I had the same thing after taking doxycycyline. had it for 4 months. there is a secret that you can get antibiotic that are for fih or birds and they are the same thing sold in pharmacy. markingings and everything. it is against the law to put a label on a drug if it is not the exact drug. Army guys have known this forever. Go to fish mox online and they have all the antibiotics you need if you dont want to see a doctor. Anyway i took the flagynl and it worked at 72 hours never came back. and i suffered. every bowel movent was light colored and softer and leaked foreever after. and itchy itchy itchy. just look up webmd or anyuthing for c. difficile and youll see its always after a round of antibiotics. hope this helps

I'm a female age 64 and I've had this same problem for about 3 years. I've noticed that if I carry a small tube of hemorrhoid ointment into the bathroom stall and apply just a little of that after I clean up, I'm less likely to burn and bleed from the irritation. Also, I'm now putting on a small panty liner to protect my clothing when I get dressed every day. I can at least change it between leakages. For some reason, this weekend I'm having a repeated problem during my shift at work.
I do appreciate the information about the cranberry juice. Perhaps I can try cranberry vitamins too. I'll give these suggestions a try.

Thank you to everyone who's been so honest. It's genuinely uplifting to know I have brothers and sisters out there going through the same s*$%. I hope my post is relevant. I'm 30, I had haemoroids 10 years ago. At that time I was also using a lot of drugs (recovered now! yay, go me!) I had them banded, and even had an operation to inject them. I had a few better years, but I've always had a sense that I still need the loo, after going to the loo, and as long as I can remember, I've experienced burning of the anus. Symptoms receded a bit, and i had a few good years before I went to docs about burning _ soreness at the tip of the penis. She prescribed me Azithromycin. It was agonising, i had terrible squishing and a burning in my stomach so severe that it kept me awake for a whole night! Since then I've had the fishy leakage of doom. If I'm on a train, if I'm in any room with air con.... everyone is doomed! It's so embarassing. Occasionally i kid myself it's ok, then I go outside, come back into this building, and the whole place smells like a mixture of fish and farts. I've had this for 2 years now, so I'm going Action Man on it. I'm changing my diet this week. I live in Japan, so I'm going to to try and minimize oily foods. No alcohol, no caffeine, no bread, a low carb diet. I'm still going to have 100% fruit juice and fruits, and lots of vegetables, but maybe just vegetables + fish/white meat for dinner. As i think 'Behind it' may have said, the tragedy is losing your life to this c**p. Literally. I was a cool guy, now I talk to girls like some kind of nightmare alien. I've also stopped excercising which is really stupid. I like jogging, but I'm worried it might trigger an anal fissure, something i can achieve by just lifting my leg too high or wiping too much! I am going to try and find a martial art that only includes low kicks, so i can get fit without damaging myself like last time i tried kicking really high!As far as medicine, I'm going to have a stomach fiberscopy to look at things, and then a colonoscopy and then an examination of the urinary tract. I have soreness front and back, and walking often causes a lot of pain around the anus (yet no blood at present). I am very hygienic, but I've found Japanese toilets with built in warm water are a life saver + relieve a lot of pain. Unfortunately these are only in the hoity toity expensive places! I was prescribed anti-bacterial liquid, that i had to dilute with water a few weeks ago. they stopped itching and pain for a few days, but i ran out. i had one good day of no pain, then, i ate too much in the evening - i really regret it! cue lots of 'traffic' and suddenly pain was back. Leakage never stopped, but pain did for a little bit. I'm certain keeping the area as clean as possible without agitating it is really important. I'm going to get some more blue liquid tomorrow and see if i can make it work with a new low carb diet. I'm also going to ask my kind new doctor (who is the only doctor ever not just prescribe more antibiotics to me!) if he recommends trying an anti-fungal cream. I will know more in a month or so. I still have a haemaroid that is sometimes pushed to the very opening of the anus when I have the feeling that i still need to go after using the loo - and i suspect in my case it may be impairing sphincter function -whilst chemical damage to the lining of my stomach may be creating this horrific, acidic burning liquid that is agitating the skin of the penis and anus. As i say, the fishy leakage is only since i took the horrific one dose anti-biotic. I will have the tests (including a colonoscopy) and try and update you with any progress (if it's appropriate to this thread!). I hope by attacking diet, cleanliness of the area and pro-biotic tablets - i may help recover some of my life from this illness! Once again I'm really sorry if some of these symptoms are too different, but I feel have really become stronger from reading this thread, and i hope that the insights you have given me into different ways to try and combat this problem will help me help you too! Thank you all for your honesty.

Well, I wish you luck. Please keep us posted. Many people have advocated cutting out caffeine and alcohol (I know it's better when I drink less), so I'm fairly confident you'll see results.
I haven't posted in a while, but my situation hasn't changed that much. One thing I've been doing is wiping with wet toilet paper (I'll take about 3 or 4 squares, fold in half a few times, then get it wet with a trickle of water from the faucet—one of these for the left cheek, one for the right—ideally prepare these before sitting down, but at home I can manage afterwards if I'm careful); this method is much kinder to my skin than dry toilet paper. My dermatologist did say once that even non-scented, white toilet paper can have irritating chemicals.
(A LITTLE GRAPHIC HERE:) My main discovery has been that, while I can keep the leakage from being liquid by using Metamucil (or similar) twice a day, the problem still is that usually the bowel movement itself is not as solid as it used to be, so there are stray bits that get left behind, which either remain just inside the sphincter or get caught in the hair in the anal area. When it's stuck in the hair, that's when it seems to irritate the most. Trimming the hair actually helps, BUT it took me a long time to realize that if you trim while it's dry, some little hairs will get stuck to the skin and that's almost as irritating in itself. AND for me it's the area right in front of the opening that feels the worst: the fecal matter sticks to that hair, and it gets matted and of course it rubs together when you walk; this is why applying a little petroleum jelly there works so well...until it, too, dries, then it ultimately adds to the problem, until you apply more or manage to clean that area without irritating the skin! A little "baby wash" (find it in the baby section of the supermarket or pharmacy) in the shower works better than anything else for me in that area, but sparingly. When the skin on the sides of or behind the opening gets rough, a little dab of jock itch cream works for me.
I used to have chronic irritation on the head of the penis, but that's because I actually used to dab it with toilet paper after going (I stopped that). Occasionally it still gets a little irritated, but just a little petroleum jelly (or Aquafor, which I use) can work wonders to calm it down.
So, as most of you know, any irritation in the anal area just begets MORE irritation, which, I believe, causes the sphincter to spasm and open and let more fecal matter out, especially when walking immediately after the bowel movement (I almost always have to go back within a half hour and clean up again). When the skin AND hair in this area are kept as clean (but not TOO dry) as possible, these effects are reduced.
Still considering getting "rubber banding" done for the internal hemorrhoids, but still not convinced that will help.
