I've had intermittent left side (and occasional right side) abdominal pain for over a year. Usually it is a dull ache that is very localized. Most of the time it does not radiate. However, every now and then the pain is excruciating, usually requiring an ER trip and Dilaudid. I've had x-rays and CT scans that ruled out kidney stones and gallbladder problems. I've had several ultrasounds that ruled out ovarian cysts and endometriosis. I've had an EGD and a colonoscopy that ruled out digestive problems. I have been diagnosed with PCOS but like I said, no cysts. My endocrinologist thinks I have some sort of adrenal disorder, so here is my question: Is there any way this pain is related to my adrenal glands? I know the adrenal glands are located in my abdomen. I'm at a loss here.
The adrenal glands are small cone shaped glands positioned over our kidneys.  Pain associated with the adrenals would be more likely located in your back area, however adrenal fatigue is a very common problem that can result in unexplained abdominal pain.  I've experienced this exact problem off and on for many years and have learned some things to help keep it  away, although during times of heavier stress, it can flair up again until the stress can be managed better.  Here's a great link I just found today that seemed to put everything together to help keep us informed about the issue.  Hope this helps.
