How could you terminate at 5 months? That doctor is stupid to even suggest that. Did you have any symptoms of an impending miscarriage? And even if they should have suggested bed rest not an abortion. No one knows what the outcome will be for each unicornuate urerine pregnancy. My unicornuate uterus effects my pregnancies all in the first trimester due to lack of blood supply. I have left unicornuate uterus and a right pelvic kidney. I don't have a problem with getting pregnant but I havent been able to keep a successful pregnancy. I lost all 3 of my babies before 12 weeks. Don't let a doctor SCARE you into not continuing with your pregnancy. Most women go on to have healthy babies. I just so happen to be one of the rare cases that has trouble in the beginning. I wish I could have made it to 5 months. but I would never terminate any future pregnancies just because I though my next one could end early again or possibly later . I don't know if one day my babies will implant in the "correct spot" but what I do know is that I'm not going to give up on them.

I have a unicornate uterus as well as having one kidney and having one of my ovaries removed. I was 14 when my right ovary twisted itself up and died and during the emergency surgery to remove it they found out about my kidney and right ovary. My left ovary isnt attached so I also have questions about conception. Especially since ive read that there are complications with pregnancies in women with one kidney and unicornate uterus. Also how expensive would treatment be? Im currently taking birth control for the pain during my periods (has caused fainting shaking and so much pain ive collapsed and thrown up) and i would miss up to 6 months and then have a terrible menstrual

I just recently found out that I have a Unicornuate Uterus during surgery to see if my left tube could be repaired as it was blocked. Unfortunately it couldn't be repaired and was removed and I don't have a right tube. I do have both ovaries- I am 32 years old and we have been trying for a baby for 4 years. I am currently considering IVF but wanted to get as much information as I could about this condition before I made the decision- I don't want to potentially hurt my baby and I wanted to know if there has been anyone out there that has had successful IVF with this condition? Thank you for any feedback.

Karli I have a very similar story as yours. I have one kidney (a little bit larger than normal), two ovaries, UU and one fallopian tube (one was removed a very long time ago due to it being blocked). I will be starting the IVF process shortly. Just actually started my BC. My doctor has mentioned its not impossible, it just could take a long time to reach. He told me to be patient. Which I do not have after 2 years of trying. Any other feedback is greatly appreciated.

I am 18 and during my end year exams I was rushed to hospital for appendicitus. While in surgery the doctors found that my apendix was fine and that I had half a uterus. I had both my fallopian tubes but one wasn't connected to anything and a bleeding sist had formed on it. They removed it, as it was becoming infected.
I have been fully reassured that I have normal chances of falling pregnant. And if one day I am not able to have children I truely believe that it's God's way of saying that I am meant to be a mom of someone who otherwise wouldn't have a mom or someone to love, hold and care for them.
This may not be the right place to express this but everything happens for a reason. We go through hard things to be able to help others. To be a light to others we need to find our own light in our darkest times.

Hello everyone. I also have been diagnosed with a UU. I just found out today that I am having my fifth miscarriage (this one, I didn't even know I was pregnant but with the odd way things were going in, I started to suspect.). I am 26, and have terrible pain during periods. They are usually irregular, though I haven't missed any. I have an SIS scheduled, and hopefully that will tell me more of what's happening with me. Before this site, I didn't even know about missing kidneys and tubes and stuff. Nobody told me, only that my uterus has a horn now make another appointment. Now I know what to ask. I totally understand the frustration as well. We own our own home, are not in any major debt, we're responsible to the point of becoming guardians for a family member who needed help getting his life together. We will never be perfectly ready but we have so much to give, it just doesn't seem fair. I am also the only one in my family to have had this many issues getting pregnant. All the women have 3+ kids. What I would give for even one little one.

I am 28 and was finally diagnosed with UU 2 years ago. I say finally because in 2012 I had a plum sized fibroid removed from my cervix. Even though I had tons of MRI's, a bunch of tests, ultrasounds and major surgery, it wasn't until my husband and I had trouble conceiving and went to a fertility doctor that they found the abnormality. I am lucky and have my 2nd kidney. I also come from a family where the women sneeze and become pregnant, so I completely understand your frustration. We have done 5 cycles of timed intercourse w/ meds (both clomid and letrozole) No success. The doctor has put me on only letrozole now bc the clomid produced 4-5 follicles and the letrozole tends to only give me 1. For most people the 4-5 would be great, but that is dangerous for people with UU bc we just dont have the room to safely grow more than 1 baby. This month (November) we advanced to trying IUI for the first time. I am 9 days post insimination and crossing my fingers that it works.
Keep your head up Megan and know that you are not alone. UU is rare (only occurs in 1% of all uterus deformalities) and it can really be a struggle when you really want a baby, but try to stay positive. There are some many things that you can try. Don't give up!! I try to keep my spirits up by reading about all of the women who didn't even know they had UU until they had their babies....if they can do it, why can't we?

I am 37,and we just started trying a little over a year ago with no luck. I did see a specialist, and after HSG/Ultrasounds/Sonohystogram(sp) I was also diagnosed with a Unicorniate Uterus. I have both overies. But only one fallopian tube(my left side).All of my other test came back normal... They suggested I start IUI next cycle, but they aren't giving me any drugs/hormones not sure what correct term is..... They don't want to increase chance of multiples because the size of my uterus... and not sure if my body size contributes but i'm pretty short as well. Hi, I just wanted to give you some positive feedback and some hope. Over fifteen years ago during surgery I was diagnosed with UU. Both ovaries and a rudimentary horn on the right side. I was about 33 years old. After two failed IVF attempts, we tried IUI with fertility meds. We did early cycle ultrasounds to determine which side I was ovulating from ---unfortunately my right ovary was dominant and it took a lot of meds to get me to ovulate from the left side. ( The side my fallopian tube was attached ). After about 6 months we had nice follicles on my left side and we did timed IUI and miraculously we found that I was pregnant! I carried my daughter to full term. She was healthy and weighed nearly 9 lbs. I was 36 and wanted to try for baby # 2 quickly so we tried several IUI cycles but had no luck. We switched fertility centers and decided to give IVF another chance. After a lengthy workup and many tests, we started our cycle and got three very nice embryos that were transferred ( my 9 lb baby gave them hope that I could carry twins). Two weeks later we were pregnant with one baby. At age 39 I delivered my son at 37 weeks. Both deliveries were normal and without incident. By the way, I am only 5' 1" tall. I might be an exception, but that "banana" uterus can really stretch. So, don't give up and get to the best fertility clinic you can afford. Time is your biggest enemy in my opinion. Best of luck!

Curious if you've started IVF or made a decision. We just found out yesterday I have a UU. We went in for a hysterscopy because during the mock-transfer they couldn't get a clear picture inside my uterus...then found out the UU. I had an eptopic pregnancy a few years ago and found out that I only have one tube so reason we were doing IVF. I'm struggling because the OBGYN is suggesting that attempting IVF would probably end in a miscarriage, but IVF doctor is saying we could still do it....then reading these stories of successful pregnancies I just don't know what to do.
